    Morning.

Today I will mostly be making a lavender planter out of some sleepers and an old bath.

My Acer (Japanese maple) is giving off seeds this year. It's never done that previously.

Like cycamore ones, that spin when they leave the tree.

Gonna plant a couple and see if I can grow a new tree or two.

I had an acer for years at my old property, never ever saw it do that, so I googled it...

    Preparing Seeds for Planting

    1. Pick Japanese maple seeds when they're ripe, but not quite ready to spiral away from the parent tree. Before planting the seeds, you must stratify them. Keep the seeds in a cool, dry location until the wings and seeds are completely brown and dry. In December or January, remove the wings and place the seeds in a large bowl. Cover the seeds with hot water and allow them to soak for 48 hours. Place the seeds into a plastic bag with an equal amount of moist peat moss. Store the bag in the refrigerator at 34 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 days. After 90 days, put the bag in a warm location. The seeds should germinate in two to three days.

back to HK for a short trip after 3 years out. Absolute nightmare, indirect flight as there are no direct ones from UK in this period. First massive delays at zurich because it takes staff ages to check documentation (flight delayed for an hour and a half) and the flight itself is 2 hours longer to avoid russian airspace (good i dont want to be shot down).

Then landing in HK, more processing time, doing tests etc and it took 6 hours to get to my 7 day hotel for quarantine (they smart, they give a single entry card so you cannot leave the room else you are ****ed for going back in). Worst part of that is probably having to keep a mask on from the zurich flight onwards. Only allowed it off for meals else has to be on at all times in the flight, airport, travelling to hotel etc.

End of the day that's how nature does it, the thing goes off and lands and grows into a tree so **** it, stick it in some earth and see what happens.
