Yep, had engine fully forged and zipped it up to 400hp with a new map, probs a bit more cos I deleted the balance shaft as well. Barely noticed any difference so I decided it’s time to move it on.

It’s gone now and I got about 6k more than I paid for it due to it being somewhat of a modern collectors item now. So onwards and upwards.

Nice moves bro. Good to flip that and make a decent wedge on it too.

What you going for next. Another whip or a Dad car ?

Thinking of buying an apartment in Spain in a couple of years so probs just gonna calm down now. I’ve spoken to a couple of garages about specifying a car and they’re quoting 6 month lead times so it might come down to what’s available, cos I can’t be arsed with used, as it usually goes spectacularly wrong for me when I buy used.

yeah massive wait on new cars. Was the same with bikes. Factories catching up after covid and difficulties getting components after supply chains were disrupted.

Nothings gonna be as fast as that RS now, so might as well consider it a scratch itched.

Apt sound like a good move. Always nice to have a bolt hole somewhere sunny to dash off to when Manchester in January gets tedious <ok>

Global microchip shortage for new cars, hence the long lead time.

I can work remotely now from anywhere in a similar time zone so I reckon that’s the way forward.

The RS was fun but I’d be lying if I said it was a great car. Great if you wanna **** around in the burbs, but not so great to schlep your parents to the airport in, just a completely impractical car. I’d have to whisper it in a room full of car enthusiasts but the Cupra I had previously was the better all-round car to own.

Just looking at the new Defender now, looks lush but about as reliable as a gay guard dog. Ironic really given it’s probably been the most indestructible car for about 80 years.

Yeah that's right, I think there has been a sequence of world events, from covid, factory burning down and some other events, that have led to the global shortage.

My mate has just bought one of those new defenders. To me they are a vanity car. They have zero relation to their founding principle, i.e. driving through fields and mud. 99% of those new defenders probably won't even have a wheel touch the grass.

Not that I’m considering one, Landrover’s name is mud at the minute.

Nor am I considering a Volvo... there’s a line somewhere in the middle.

Some nice hybrids on the market now, after an iffy start. Some still look awful, but the Audi and merc hybrids are very nice.

My old Touareg does me proud. It's nearly 14 years old now, but was VW's flagship SUV when it launched and it's stood the test of time.

Plenty of power from that 3.0 V6, solid and composed on the ground and nicely refined on the inside.

    There's probs a hybrid Q5 / Q7 / Touareg / X5 type of thing out now ?

Think Audi do the E-tron things. Never been an Audi fan tbh.

I had an A6 Allroad a few years ago. That was nice. But BMW is a cut above for me. Have they got a E-SUV yet ?

There’s a 45e engine that they’ve rolled out in a few cars like the 5 series and X5 I think. They seem to be a bit behind, but what they’ll produce will mop the floor with Audi & Merc’s garbage. Those Merc’s are hideous.

Never really been a Merc fan. Obvs those supercars are something different, but your average daily drive is way below the bar set by BMW and even VW / Seat / Skoda imo. Mercedes made incredible cars up until around 1980 and then their offerings to the mass market have been ****e.

That said, there's a nice Bi Turbo GLC parked out the front from me that I wouldn't say no to if somebody wanted to give it to me <laugh>
