As much as Custard posts some crap on there I imagine/hope that he means "I dont care ABOUT Mo or John skin colour, you should play for the country you were born in, not one that suits you."
Either way I disagree with him. My mother is about the most English person I know and she didn't move to England until she was 9. A Palestinian friend of mine, same age as me, moved to the US the same month I did back in 1992. He's definitely American now. He identifies as American. Acts American. He's American. I'm still very much British. I identify British. I'm for all intents and purposes still an Englishman. I've known lots of immigrants in both Britain and the US, and it's a unique experience for each of them. Some people retain their identify and connection to their Homeland and others latch on to and become fully immersed in their new home. It's very much a personal thing and is not as simple as where you were born.
Terry Butcher was born in Singapore. Should he never have played for England? Nasser Hussein was born in Madras and moved to England when he was 7. Should he never have played for, let alone captained, England? It's a colossally ignorant viewpoint.
Completely agree. I think there is some abuse from some people, but all in all your nationality isn't your race. It isn't where you were born and it isn't where you live. Nationality is where you feel you belong. I could never in good conscience represent the US but my Palestinian friend who has been here just as long could. It's a personal issue.
Give he's a blatant racist, even if he did mean that, his issue with representing the country of birth patently has racist undertones.
He's just shown himself for what he is, a small minded racist and xenophobic, little Englander. He's Brexit personified.
I've only asked a question because it came across that I was lumped into the same category as Custard by voting the same way. I may have picked it up wrong though. I'm not going anywhere.
If the first line doesn't apply, then it's irrelevant. Many people voted for Brexit who had reasons other than xenophobia, Kustard wasn't one of them.
This board is packed with Remoaners mate, they're savages! I would rather saw into my own ball sack with a rusty steak knife than get involved in politics again on this board.
No problem mate. I just think you could have maybe put it another way other than Brexit personified as it came across as you generally think people who voted that way are generally racist. You didn't mean it that way though, you now clearly explained it. I totally agree about that knob as well.
I know that mate, I've been here long enough now. That's why I won't go anywhere near that politics thread. Apart from my post on there 15mins ago
