Just seen @brb locked @Tel suicide thread. Strange as it never even got started.. I seem to remember i did similar years ago, and it really took of. but brb eventually locked that also, despite having 100s posts.
Just received a random extra £220 in my wages this month and it’s listed as “Basic Pay Cash”. This isn’t expenses as that’s on another line. All I can think is that it’s some sort of WFH allowance... or an admin error. Any payroll experts in tha house?
No exact idea, but would this payslip, include any holiday pay? The only reason I ask is because I thought people who do overtime on a regular basis, should get additional pay when on holiday. This is to compensate them for any regular overtime loss they incur during a taken holiday period. So in short, holiday pay, should be equal to your 'normal' take home pay. Something like that anyway. Someone else might be able to explain it better. If not that then I don't know. Unless Boris has started giving free money away.
I used to get something similar when I did shift work. Every quarter they'd give you an extra bit for the enhancements you've missed out on during any leave.
I think it all came about, because people wouldn't take their holidays, or those that did had a shortfall of cash for that month. So for example, someone like Comm who does overtime on a regular basis, would see a serious reduction in pay, if he took two weeks off. Especially in todays climate of low pay, people need the overtime to make ends meet, or for those extra little luxuries such as a holiday abroad. Although you couldn't just get it because you did overtime, every now and then, it is what was regarded as your normal routine. So for example, people who were paid a shift allowance (ie your every quarter), I think, not 100% sure, that came into it as well.
Untaken holiday pay? We would pay any untaken holidays at our financial year end, unless it had been agreed to carry over untaken days.
Something else I thought of, it's that term 'cash' that seems odd, as though to suggest it is void of tax. Do you pay for your car, through your company. I remember you saying your cars were stolen. Was this a payment, to put right any difference that.
Mine works like that..During lockdown when i was banging in loads of hours my holiday pay was increasing all the time, as it goes over a 16 week average.. So i've been earning more while having some holidays.
@Tobes that was a good past recommendation regarding Clinton Cards online. I ordered stuff Thursday, it's arrived already (albeit I did pay for express delivery) - all turned up well packaged. You pay more, but like they say, you get what you pay for
Here atm. Waiting for the tide to drop back and chilling with my girls, listening to Arsenal winning 0-3. Happy days
Ive literally got no idea what it is mate, but I know I’ve not taken any holidays or been paid for any.
Not to sound snobby but £220 doesn’t cover even a day’s holiday rate and I can’t see why they would call it Cash rather than Holiday Pay... v strange I’ll have a chat with somebody on Monday about it. All I can think is it might be like a petty cash advance as I have several things booked in my diary for the month, but usually they’d be paid retrospectively.
