Could do it the other way round too, rising in the centre, since the 4 central squares are the most valuable so would be the high ground

I like poker too, god **** awful at that tbh but again like playing it for a few notes with mates on occasion.
You done a good job of that bench mate, so not doubting your capabilities When I was younger, I was really good at chess, but not sure if i'd have the concentration these days.
I find a lot depends on who you play with, some peeps are too intense or competitive while it's like playing snokker for me where its a few spliffs drinks bit of music and a chat while you play. More for the social vibe of it, but like I say you need the right person to play with.
Yeh, takes away from the light and dark blocks too for me, you wanna see that on the sides, but i like the lower profile of it, I reckon I'll do mine in between the size of this and the 1st one I posted.
When I was in my youth, I used to have a mate that was the dogs bolloxs at pool, he used to just thrash me, but it's how I became a good player. I kept playing him, until I'd been beaten so many times, I learned everything he knew and then eventually beat him and became as good as him. It's the best way to learn.
I remember going in a boozer one time, never been in there before, it was well rough, and these lads challenging me and my mate to a game. I'm like nah mate, I'm not very good. Oh come on they say. Well you know all the bolloxs, they start giving it. So I go come on then mate, let's give them a game. Anyhow the smart arses wanted money on it. It seemed rude to say no, and we put the money on the table. Whipped their arses, grabbed the money and legged it out the place as quick as possible
