I watched a couple of Auschwitz documentaries yesterday and bits of the service marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the camp. We're a ****ed up species.

Unbelievable to this day. I was stunned by every square inch I covered when I visited those camps. Words just don’t cover it.

 

I want to visit the camps.

 

Surreal experience. Auschwitz felt very commercially driven, although there were some staggering scenes and facts on display, couldn’t help but think it was too touristy. I was a bit disappointed with it, displays created for shock and awe and you end up feeling like you’re in a museum.

Then Auschwitz-Birkenau, it’s as if somebody turns the clocks back, and the cold just grabs you, it’s deeply disturbing and all of a sudden it hits you just what they went through. Stood on that track I was just completely overwhelmed by where I was, that’s the place that I’ll never forget, Birkenau.

Also if you’re actually serious about going, the best advice I can offer is get a private guide, pay the extra, not the group one with the head set.
