True that. I openly admit that I'm the least musically adept one in the band. I've got good rhythm though and I can play. More importantly though I know how listen, so I know how to compliment other musicians. Being in a band is like being in a team, if you get one show off who thinks he knows it all, then it ****s it up for everybody else.
Cool with me bro, I also saw Free at the Greyhound after they came back together after a break (probably for Kossof’s addiction). We were enjoying Brindley Schwartz when they took their break the Free lads piled on stage and played the rest of the night. Not perfect but as you say an enjoyable noise.
I photographed Bad Company back in 2016 when they played Newcastle at Paul Rodgers request, might be pushing 70 but what a gig that was. Went to the after show party with Brian Johnson ( AC/DC) and got talking to Mickey Ralphs Bad Company's guitarist, he reckoned Paul Rodgers voice is as good as it was back in 74, have to agree mind, Mickey looked as though he'd eaten Mott the Hoople..
Yep, Paul has a rich natural voice as did Stevie Marriott and Jimmy Page. My three favourite rock Singers of all time.
You mean Robert Plant surely? Jimmy Page couldn't sing coal up a passage a bit like another singer I have seen recently doing an Ultravox cover Agree about Steve Marriott, one of thee best, saw Humble Pie a few times early 70's, that lad could sing. Funnily enough I have been downloading a lot of the old Small Faces recently, love Tin Soldier and Sha la la la la le..
I love that song, and recorded my own version of it, in my home studio, a few years back. Sadly, it doesn’t fit in with my band’s repertoire.
