Off out for a roast at 3. Then plan to slope to the pub opposite and perhaps watch a bit of the football until we start getting torn a new one at least.

Everything these days is supposed to be signed off by a qualified sparky. But I rewired my house (with help from my brother) You obviously need to know what type of cable to use for which load rating and what type of RCD switches to use at the fuse box etc, then it's just basic wiring after that. My house is 140 years old, so everything is visible and all the cable runs across the surfaces, which makes it easier than chasing cable through cavity walls and plasterboard etc.

So like the shed, you watched your brother do it then <whistle>

House bashing isn't particularly difficult, making sure that you have adequately earthed the place is probably the bit that the "non-sparky's" forget. There's nothing in the regs that say you can't do it, it just needs to have the testing done by a qualified sparks.

Me neither. Fitted an electric shower about 20 years ago, it blew up. Never again.

I hate electric showers. From day 1 of my apprenticeship, I was always told that electricity and water don't mix!!
