I think it was probably a lot of rain for a US track. The European trainers would consider it insignificant because we work our horses in all weather conditions. You should see the amount of the wet stuff that has fallen on Newmarket overnight and this morning - everyone's still out working as normal: I got held up on the Fordham Road by Michael Bell's string this morning which made a nice change as I normally get stuck behind Fanshawe's or Ed Dunlop's on my morning commute! I put a comment up on my BC News thread about the horses that were entered under the BC open enrollment scheme back in June (thus bypassing the huge $100,000 fee that would have been payable if they had waited until the entry stage last week). I'll copy it and post it over here. It may mean absolutely nothing, but it may also offer a few pointers to what will run well.
Just checked out the weather or the Churchill Down area. Clearing today. Sunny tomorrow. So it might be ok.
My post from the other thread: Some pointers that some of you might find useful for this weekend's racing. The following horses set to run at Breeders' Cup were supplemented to the scheme under a "one time open-enrollment" offer that closed on 30th June. The fact that the following horses were added might perhaps be seen as an indication of their connections game plan early in the season: Friday Juvenile Sprint - BLACKY THE BULL Filly & Mare Sprint - GREAT HOT Juvenile Fillies - WEEMISSFRANKIE & SAY A NOVENA Filly & Mare Turf - DUBAWI HEIGHTS, STACELITA & CAMBINA Ladies Classic - MISS MATCH Saturday Juvenile Turf - WROTE & CASPAR NETSCHER Dirt Sprint - EUROEARS, JACKSON BEND & AMAZOMBIE Turf Sprint - CARACORTADO Mile - ZOFFANY Classic - SO YOU THINK It is worth noting that two other horses that were added, but do not run, were Arc winner DANEDREAM and Racing Post Trophy winner CAMELOT. Remember, these entries were made way back in June - we should have been paying more attention! Of course it may all just be hokum, but you never know!
