Any player we buy should really be an integral part of our 'push for promotion' next season. Hugill averaging 1 goal in 5 doesn't inspire me with much confidence unless there is a lot more to his game similar to a Heskey for instance. It's probably hard to say how much Marriott is worth. We paid £3 million for Roofe who was cracking them in for Oxford in League 1 and well I like the lad for his effort, it's hard to see him ever successfully leading the line for us. Would Marriott be a similar proposition. Buying a striker is a bit of a minefield. We have wasted enough money handing out 4 year contracts like confetti and so I would rather wait till the summer and have more options than add another player to the squad just to satisfy a few restless natives.
Most think Roofe is too small and lightweight to play lone striker but Marriott at 5'8" is two inches shorter.
On another note someone on twitter did a calculation for me. Lasogga has cost us 65.72 for every minute he’s been in the pitch this season. We’re covering 15k a week of his wages
This is the scary part of our game. Forget the uselessnes of last weekend, its the crap at ball controll, passing, losing posesion.
the young European players signed for the Academy are here to acclimatise to England ... it's a growth project, not a "just add water" project ... yes, there will be some who don't settle and return home, but there will be another Saiz in there somewhere ... Leeds need to get to the Prem so that they play against better footballing U23s ... can you imagine what it must be like for our young uns to go and play Crewe, whose kids will feel it's their Cup Final, and get the bejesus kicked out of them ... our kids play in a rough and ready youth league, and they would be better off playing the Prem clubs' U23s ... but, as it stands, the Academy kids are learning in a tough environment, and this will be a reality check, but hopefully another gem is going to come through the thing I see on social media is the demand for instant success ... constant moaning that the owner hasn't spent enough money, that Orta is a disaster, that Tommy should be sacked, etc ... funny how nobody gives Orta any recognition for finding the likes of Alioski and Saiz, or bringing in Anita who is a good free agent signing ... Wiedwald has been another good addition, but people rather blame him for that useless Green leaving ... I have said it before, if you are constantly negative towards the club, the owner, the manager and the players then you breed an environment designed for failure ... I'd rather the whingers go off and find another club to moan about, because if you genuinely love Leeds United you will speak no evil about our great club ... instead, follow the Whites through thick and thin, regardless of results, and let the owner get on with rebuilding ... we are in the best state we have ever been in since pre-Ridsdale days
That’s you foiled at the first hurdle. You are posting complete ****e in my opinion. There is not one shred of evidence to support your opinion. We have ceased to have a decent first team and the owner is running the club purely to make profits for training kids for other clubs to buy..
That is overly optimistic. We need players to get us to the premiership not sign U23 that need to play against non-physical academy prem boys. Think that's CBJ's problem.
TBF he has probably watched the team, while others turned it off,and probably will again this week while you are ordering your fish and chips. As another who has watched and will again this week,I believe him to be much nearer the mark than you.IMO
