Ayling's already had a couple of international breaks to get rested! I actually think it's coincidental that he's had his first child during his 'off' spell. I'm guessing that he had some adjustments to make & didn't cope so well at first - sleep pattern etc. Looks like he's got it sorted now, so hopefully I'm right & there will be no repeat.
Have to be honest, Doc, the results don't bother me. This is a development squad, and one way you develop players is to see what they're capable of - playing in unusual positions, varied formations, tactics etc. I'd rather they tested the players in this way than them winning everything & the players getting found out when they make it through to the first team. Classic case was Harte & Kewell being developed - they swopped each others positions & went on to make their careers in the positions they didn't start from. Yes, it's nice to win, but the real win for me is to find out what someone is capable of.
Leeds never ever put in any kind of bid for Gestede, that was just social media speculation and Leeds have shown they won't easily go and splash £6m on one player ... Boro would have bitten Orta's hand off if he rocked up with £6m for Gestede, they are losing mega on the dud and will struggle to move him on ... as for January, the first we will know about any new signings will be when they are photographed signing their contract ... I prefer the way Leeds do their business now, keeping talks quiet so as not to alert any other clubs
No, you can only play for 2 clubs in one season apparently - this is the received wisdom: "He cannot move to another club in next month's transfer window as he made one appearance for NEC before his move to England; FIFA rules prohibit playing for three clubs in a single season." Sounds cut and dried.
Monk paid 15m for assombalonga... not surprising gestede isn’t getting game time. It’s horses for courses he’s great in the air and holds up play. If that’s what you need, at his age and out of the team you could probably get him at a decent price in jan. Key word is if. Let’s hope kinnear is keeping his powder dry, cos stevie wonder can see we’re lacking. We’re also close enough to the play offs to justify amending any master plan to strengthen the squad... ... but he’s right that jan isn’t great for targeting players and can end in over priced desperation. Just doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try when your squad has obvious deficiencies.
Hey mate I know what you’re saying but bottom of the league every season wont teach everything. We need these kids to express themselves which cant happen if they are too busy worrying about getting a result, stopping the rot. I think we are having a clear out and been adding a lot of Euro kids with a Euro manager. Im hoping its acclimatisation as I cannot accept bottom of the league last season and repeating this season unless we are guaranteed to turn it around soon
