Splendid Sir, the natives can be a bit restless at times but otherwise all is good, well except for the snakes, spiders and other poisonous animals, but apart from that it is fantastic. Oh the hailstones at this time of year can be dangerous, they get quite large and can render you unconscious or even kill you. The accompanying thunder and lightning is dangerous as well as being able to start catastrophic bush fires. But apart from that it's a fantastic place where only the tough survive. The only downside, which is manageable, is every four years a group of yobs arrive, get drunk, sing songs and generally whinge. There is nothing in this fine and lucky land as bad as a whinging Pom !
You actually in Brisbane, Eric? Was over visiting my mate in Montville earlier this year. He's since moved into one of these new retirement complexes in Bli Bli. Wish we had stuff like that over here. It's absolutely brilliant.
North of Brisbane quite a bit, Inland from the Sunny coast so 30 - 50 kms from Mountville approx. Got a few acres
Crikey, back of beyond, then, eh? All of the towns around Mountville made me think of the UK in the 40s & 50s (according to what I've watched on the tv). Really small towns & villages full of independent shops, with few, if any, chains (apart form supermarkets, really). Have to say I liked it a lot, & the weather too. I'm guessing that you've got a long way to go before you consider retirement accommodation, but I can tel lyou that you're blessed for choice with all of those complexes that are springing up. I really am quite jealous.
