Hi Norway, orta has said that... has TC? I recall him saying pre season that signings were nothing to do with him... I subsequently recall him implying it’s a group thing, like he was towing the line. I don’t recall him saying he had the last word, but stand to be corrected.

To be honest, there’s having the last word and having a clear input... one is ‘we’ve agreed a deal for cibicki, trust you’re ok with that thomas?’... the other is ‘let’s sit down and discuss players we think would improve the team Thomas.’

When you hear orta talk about his contacts, his scouting network... the coach’s input seems like s rubber stamping exercise to me. But hey, i’m Not party to the discussions so it’s just my gut feel on the matter.., and probably skewed by what I heard about his time at boro.

Evening Chippy, and there above is the conundrum, you say this set up can't work and we need a old fashioned manager, presumably like the others that have failed the past 1/4 years (given that Orta / TC have been her about a 14 of a season). The list is endless, Warnock, Grayson, McDermott, McCallister etc. Im sure you get my point, all failed (and I've probably forgotten far more). It is getting quality players in coupled with a good coach. You say we are weaker than last year but also say we were lucky to get the results we did last year, so presumably you think Monk must be the difference. My view is the club knee jerk too quickly, we do it with players that get chased out of the club (and invariably end up in the premier with a so called lesser team). Gibson blames Orta for the relegation, ignoring he was the man that found the players that got them promoted in the first place.Personally, I want us to at least show some patience with whatever system we decide on, manager or DOF but we always bale at the first sign of difficult times.

 

TC said it at an confrensse, but why he did it if its not true I have no idee. Maybe he did it because he didnt want to upset someone. Just to keep the house calm. Im not a part of that discussions either, so how they go about it I have no idee.

 

If we give Tc the season we can go watch Leeds at Charlton next season if they don’t get promoted. To be fair it’s one of my favourite away trips.
