Good morning Elland and Leeds fans . Gonna throw a central defenders name out there and see what you think . Mike Van Der Hoorne . In 2012 - 2013 he played his 1st top flight season as a regular in Holland . Played 31 games for Utrecht and they had one of there best seasons ever , finishing 5 th and qualifying for the UEFA Cup . Van Der Hoorn was named " Player of the Season " at 20 years old . Sold to Ajax , and like many young players going to a bigger club , got lost in the academy . We (Swansea ) picked him up last season for 2.5 million . He had 7 starts for us , under 3 different manager so again , tough times for VDH . He did play 3 games in a row and in the first of those 3 games scored our only goal in a 3 - 1 loss to Man U . In the last game of the 3 games in a row , he had 4 interceptions and won 11 aerial battles in a 0 - 0 draw with Watford .... he was named man of the match . A very agile jumper in defence and on the attack from corners and such . Looks like he probably won't be playing that much for us this season but I'm convinced this is an overlooked gem . Cheers

Is it Post Brexit time or Pre Brexit time

 

Have just had a quick glance at our latest pre season game which is still on Bursaspor's you tube account.

2 goals conceded down the left back channel and the 3rd from a cross with our centre backs nowhere.

That would seem absolutely perfect to me. Those are the areas of the team which need urgent improvement, far better to have those deficiencies highlighted now and sign the defensive players we desperately need. If somehow we had not conceded then there might have been some thinking maybe the squad was strong enough.

Not sure how any of the new guys looked, for me it was just about getting them out on the field and blowing a few cobwebs off.

Only time it matters is the 46 League games coming up starting at Bolton. And just for the record, remember the last time we were promoted to the top flight we lost 5-2 away at Newcastle on the opening day.

 

So I take it our newly bolstered midfield and attack scored six or seven using your logic?

 

You sure Jammy,top flight as in top league ? 2-0 win at Everton,sure it was.

 

Agreed the defence was deficient & glad we have time to but in some class at the back. But what about the other end? Not a sniff of goal. And the buying is finished for that end of the team! That's more of a worry to me.

If you understood the post properly then you would be aware that wasn't my concern. For all of the new signings from last week and Wood it was their first minutes of pre season. In addition Hernandez hasn't done much yet due to a knock and Pontus and O'Kane were late back.

Please do try to keep up.

 

The creators and finishers played different halfs,will be fine when,they play together.Wood on the end of the crosses and he would have scored.

 

Pre season ( the farce) is over halfway over....

All pre seasons are a farce for all clubs.

Let's fly to Asia, then Australia and then stop off in China on the way back for good measure...nothing like stretching those legs out after a long haul flight for feeling the benefit of a good work out.

For clarity the result I'm referring to is from the promotion season and the doom and gloom mongers were out in full force that day. Funny they had all forgotten about it by Bournemouth on the last day though !

 

Got it now,first game promotion season,thought you meant first game of the following season after promotion.
