I read that Monk wanted Barrow and Pedrazza but he wanted them at the start of January, not the end so that they had time to settle. To be quite frank would it have made a difference, they have hardly set the world alight. Just trying to play devils advocate here but.... Monk was given the backing to sign Antonsson for £2.5m he also signed one of the lower divisions top goal scorers in Roofe, two strikers. If you were the chairman and Monk came to you asking for another striker would you not point out I signed you the two you wanted and you don't play them? Monk signed Grimes as a replacement for Cooke, he signed Sacko to play on the wing, he then signed O'Kane and Bridcutt. January arrives he goes to Cellino and says those two strikers I signed are not good enough, Grimes isn't either and O'Kane has become 2nd 3rd choice oh and that winger I signed is useless too, I want another. Monk is good, he isn't perfect and if we miss out on promotion will it be the January transfer window or will it be the signings by Monk of Grimes, Barrow, Sacko, O'Kane, Roofe and Pedrazza that have cost us? I accept it is work in progress, I accept not every signing will work out, I want Monk to sign a new contract but I have a sneaky feeling this is his moment in time, if we don't take it I have a bad feeling Monks short comings will be highlighted next season and a few on here might not care if he goes.
Cellino has backed Monk and the fans by doing what you all wanted leaving the fook alone but don't worry he will be back next season to put things right
Good post this ristac.thought provoking and i think it points to monk having a belief in his own ability.so who starts tomorrow will need to deliver.it is going to be a lovely sunny day 18c according to bbc.roofe needs a game cos he went for it vs derby.....sacko is funny type of player but he picks him.so a hot day with a noisy crowd.come on gary what ya got.
But surely the 2 loan signings represent investment? We'll have paid a substantial loan fee for each, plus their salaries. I'd put it in the range of £1-2m.
