Jock... I was born in 85 and I live in a former mining town. Granted the place I live hasn't had it as bad as places in Barnsley. I understand the gripes that the left have with Thatcher however when you have a burn a Thatcher Party like in Goldthrope, you've taken things too far.

Instead of blaming Thatcher for all the ills in this Country take a look at our lords and masters in Europe. How long do you think it would have been before they demanded we sold them off.

The rail system needs improving, wouldn't happen under public ownership. The fact we have the same rail system that we had back in the Victorian Times is ridiculous.

BTW the Falkland Islands want to be ruled by Britain. They had a referendum on it a few years ago.

    In addition

If we hadn't closed down the mine how long do you think they would have lasted?

Thatcher should have been burned alive.... Even her family cremated and then buried her just to be sure.

The falklands wasnt about sovereignty, it wasnt even about oil and minerals. The crooked bitch engineered a war just so she could wrap herself in the flag and call an election. She deliberately let the argies invade by giving them military green lights. Should have done time for the belgrano.

They would still be going now. Clean coal compared to tne ****e we import and it was cheaper to produce. Fooking political dogma closed the mines nothing else.

I've never agreed or disagreed with the closing of the pits. I'm neutral on the matter. Let's face it Glory with the way the far left and the lobbyists are going Britain in going to be a sea of Windmills with Millennials jumping around bout the evils of coal power stations like Ferrybridge in Pontefract.

How long are mines going to last in the modern age with this Green push across Britain and Europe.

I lived in the north east in the 80's. As a point of clarification, I'd just like to add that it's not just the Yorkshiremen and the scots that hated her. We did too. I suspect a few Welshman share the view as well.

Wolves, whether the country is better off economically or not, whether the pits would all be closed anyway are points of debate and timing. It was the manner of it. Butcher communities with no plan to manage the process or redevelop them.

It was a political battle to show who ran the country. There is a strong argument that the unions, or at least the militants among them, needed reigning in, but ultimately she shafted a portion of the country that would never vote for her anyway, to safeguard the votes of the ones that might.

And we now have a low wage, low skills economy as a result.
Something that Brexit will only make worse (that's why the Tory right were all in favour of it).

For the rich elite yes, for the rest of us it will be a total unmitigated disaster.
There is not one single redeeming feature of Brexit unless you want to live in technological museum.
We have cut off our noses to spite our faces and there are no markets we can sell to that will ever make up the volume of lost trade with our nearest neighbours. If yopu think the EU will cut us a deal you are deluding yourself. No trade unless we take all the free movement that goes with been in their club....

The French President is sitting in his office when his telephone rings.

'Hallo, Mr. Sarkozy!' a heavily accented voice said.

'This is Paddy down at the Harp Pub in County Clare, Ireland.

I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on you!

We voted to reject the Lisbon treaty!'

'Well, Paddy,' Sarkozy replied, 'this is indeed important news!

    How big is your army?'

'Right now,' says Paddy, after a moment's calculation, 'there is myself,

me Cousin Sean, me next door neighbour Seamus, and the entire darts team from the pub.

    That makes eleven!'

Sarkozy paused. 'I must tell you, Paddy,

that I have 100,000 men in my army waiting to move on my command.'

'Begorra!' says Paddy. 'I'll have to ring you back.'

Sure enough, the next day, Paddy calls again.

'Mr. Sarkozy, the war is still on.

We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!'

'And what equipment would that be Paddy?' Sarkozy asks.

'Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor.'

Sarkozy sighs amused. 'I must tell you, Paddy that I have 6,000 tanks and

    5,000 armoured personnel carriers.

Also, I have increased my army to 150,000 since we last spoke.'

'Saints preserve us!' says Paddy. 'I'll have to get back to you.'

Sure enough, Paddy rings again the next day. 'Mr. Sarkozy, the war is still on!

We have managed to get ourselves airborne!

We have modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit,

and four boys from the Shamrock Bar have joined us as well!'

Sarkozy was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat.

'I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes.

My military bases are surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites.

And since we last spoke, I have increased my army to 200,000!'

'Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!' says Paddy, 'I will have to ring you back.'

Sure enough, Paddy calls again the next day. 'Top o' the mornin,' Mr. Sarkozy!

I am sorry to inform you, that we have had to call off the war.'

'Really? I am sorry to hear that,' says Sarkozy.

'Why the sudden change of heart?'

'Well,' says Paddy, 'we had a long chat over a few pints of Guinness and packets of crisps,

and we decided there is no f****n' way we can feed 200,000 prisoners.'

Firstly Antonnuci was usually played as an attacking winger, but back home he became a cult figure because of the way he scored goals playing in a 4-4-2. Scored loads of goals and had fight which the fans loved and was made captain of 2 clubs. Just dont think he was used correctly here and his record even then is pretty good.

Miners was another world and should die a peaceful death now. Impossible for a review as too many old cabinet ministers are holding a smoking gun. FFS Hezza bragged today about killing his mums dog, so getting the police to kick the **** out of miners is easy. Thatcher smashed the unions as coonts like Scargill were smashing the country and we ended up binning shipbuilding, steel and coal because of it. The unions were greedy so it was all offshored. Now the comment about coal drying up I take issue with as Im pissed off as we have been conned down the route of green energy and renewables. We closed our coal power stations down without having a back up, the wind only generates o.5% of our needs and is the most expensive per kilowatt to produce, solar only works local and around 1 hour perd ay so shyte too. All the luvvie greeny liberal coonts now wont allow fracking so we end up being held ransome by Russia and Germany. Germany are still building coal power stations because they want to keep work for their people whereas we just closed pits down and even imported coal from Germany, Check republic, fooking criminal

    Glory.

The EU works for big business and big business only. So it works for the likes of Philip Green.

Who do we trade with... Well let's start with the other 200 odd remaing countries in the world. I am ore excited about trading with the BRICS countries than a contracting and dying Eurozone.

Shall we talk about democracy.. Sorry we don't lie that so vote again we don't like thabso we'll ignore it.

The EU may have had good intentions to begin with but its a cancer now

Paddies only declare war on each other.
The rest of the time they run up the white flag and pretend to be neutral.
    Fecking Nazi sympathisers.

What do you guys think about that coont McClean refusing to wear a poppy shirt again. Coont should be suspended for November every year and have wages deducted accordingley. Any other job he would be sent home for withdrawing his labour by refusing to wear company uniform. No room for politics in football ffs

If there's no room for politics, why are the club imposing this requirement? This very action is bringing politics into football. There is no need for it. No other employer insists on a poppy being worn. It cannot be enforced legally. Simple solution - the clubs shouldn't do it.
