Billy Crouch will not get a chance at Newcastle as surplus to requirement and Benitez will get them promoted with what they have and maybe even better in January. Crouch will not get a game in the prem unless he gets a guaranteed start with Hull, Burnley, Watford. So his only chance of getting back is with a top end Championship side and Villa will be too far back, so too Cardiff but I think he knows he will score plenty and resurrect his career. Roofe must be given an opportunity soon to show if he can compete and score at this level. We also have 2 young kids almost breaking through who should also be given a chance. Wood as we all agree is a £3m player who is playing like a £5m player right now, but we need a £12m player to either make the breakthrough, or be brought in. There are a few out of contract now but nobody is picking them up, so not bothered about them. It will need to be from a prem squad as I dont think a foreign kid will make it over our own (Unless its the 13 yo Dembele at Celtic, his dad must be well proud)
Rhodes was a desperation signing for boro... They bought a guy with a proven goal scoring record as 1 of 2 up front and chucked him in a 1 up front system. Bit like antenucci and antonson for us... Good players but not especially suited to the system. I think Rhodes can actually play as a lone striker and is as proven a striker as you can get at this level... But is he the best choice for our system? And could we, would we pay that kind of money in fees and salary anyway?
If Monk is any good he will get the best out of Roofe. Imagine for one moment we hadn't signed him, then come January we announced him as our new £3m signing, we would all be as happy as a pig in ****. Kemar Roofe is 23 years old, Chris Wood 24 lets bring these two on and develop them rather than some journey man who would be absolute garbage in 18 months time.
You and will lucky to live long enough to see the forst part of that scenario and crouch will have retired long ago.
