Evening ristac, I agree, Barton would have been great but he would not have gone to Leeds last season with all the termoil. This Summer, I think things are different...
Yeah, seing my folks tomorrow, having a meal early evening, then travelling back to Southampton late evening to meet a few work colleagues at the casino. Good times.... What about you?
Cook doesn't have what the big clubs were looking for so Bournemouth it was. There hasn't exactly been a flock of clubs fighting to get him, unless people believe the amature article writers. I never rated Cook like some, but most players with the right coach could come on in leaps and bounds, I'm not so sure Cook can rise to any higher levels though. I got a funny feeling we'll be playing against Cook next season, if he's still in their first team. Haven't you figured out JA yet LoL, they're all Professors of Football, Psychics of Soccer and Wizards of the World game, with a few exceptions of course......
Agree with you except I do rate him, but we've sold a player with potential and there are many who don't fulfill their potential. Cook isn't ready for the big guns. yet. Think Eddie Howe is a good coach though and a good chance he'll play so will continue to develop in the premiership.
Agree with you about many whiz kids not making it bigger; wanting to be a great footballer is different to actually becoming one. Cook for me always seemed to play with a brick wall of fear in front of him, and he didn't manage to overcome it while at Leeds. If he's going to improve then it's going to take someone special to bring him on, he had a bit of a bad season last season with us, admitted by Cook himself, which, by all accounts is a backward step from his first season form wise. He's a bit of a lazy player for me, he hasn't done anything that creates excitement or impact, his passing needs big improvement, he doesn't track back much to help the defence and his through passes and shots at goal were virtually none existence. Going to Bournemouth is going to be starting all over again for him, which is an uphill battle. Similar things were said about Mowatt too, he's gone off boil last season and doesn't look like improving much this season unless Monk pulls something special out bag. Should Grimes prove his worth as Cooks replacement then we'll probably see a better midfielder, one who sees the through passes and puts a few shots on goal, as well as helping out our defence; if it's the case, Cook will be quickly forgotten, and, fortunately and unfortunately will expose Cooks flaws, as happened previously with Pearce and Warnock.......
Big clubs will let Bournemouth develop him further and then move in for him. He will probably have a release clause and we will probably have a sell on fee. @LeedsLover - Not wishing to get into a "do you attend matches" debate but you come to all these conclusions about Cook from limited TV footage yet from that same footage you rave about Adryan and how we should have kept him. During the 2015-16 season, Cook scored one goal and created 46 chances in 42 Championship appearances for Leeds.
Cook was a big fish in a little pond last season, teams started to man mark him,he wasn't able to cope with it,they wont bother in the prem and it will give him more space and let him develop, think he will do well. Not the finished article though and its good money if used proper.
[QUOTE="lifecheshirewhite, post: 9446782, member: and its good money if used proper.[/QUOTE] Cellino will know exactly how much inhaling sherbet he can get for it.
Not being rude, but Eddie Howe clearly disagrees with your assessment of him, as do I from the admittedly limited time I've seen him when Leeds have been televised. Always seemed to put a lot of effort in a stood out as one of our better players, as did Byram.
LeedsLover would have rated him the same as the rest of us had his name been Lewisanio Cookiani - If they are not a Cellino import from Serie B he doesn't rate them, simple as that. Surprised Redfearn hasn't been mentioned yet
Ristac, I happen to think you're right, that's why I ended my post to LL that Eddie Howe is a good coach who will continue his development but in the premiership. As much as I like Cook we need players for the here and now to get us promoted, not sure he is quite ready for that responsibility just yet.
