We need way, way bigger squad to compete in this league. We are at 21/22 players. You don't need to spend **** loads of money to compete in any league. Look at Leicester spent big in the Champs and took ages to get promoted. Ranieri spent diddly squat nd the win the Prem. What we need are the 'right' player and not berate anybody who comes in from the Get Go.
We aren't Leicester City and that was a one off, never-to-be-repeated-again achievement. You cant use 'well Leicester did so we can' with us....it wont work. How many seasons in a row is it now where we have tried doing it on the cheap and ultimately our season ends just after Christmas? You cant seriously believe we can mount a serious challenge this, or any season without spending a good portion of money. 3 or 4 million wont cut it. The 'right' players cost money....see Newcastle this week.
After christmas would be progress, last season it was over in September the year before the writing was on the wall when we lost to bradford in the fizzy pop cup.
Leicester maybe a one off but it does point out that you don't need to go crazy spending money to achieve success. What you need is the right manager with the right players at the right time. Look at Roger who spend £100 millions and did **** all. Yes it has been lot of season where it's been a write off before Xmas but look at the player we brought in for little or no money. Beckford, Becchio, Snodgrass, Gradel, Naylor... etc, etc. How is a club meant do well on the pitch when we have a megalomaniac owner who changes managers when he changes his bedsheets. Now you can use the they're professional footballers excuse but it must be demoralizing when you don't know when the manager is going to get sacked or any of the other bullshit, we have had to endure under GFH and Celino. I seriously believe that if we GET THE RIGHT PLAYERS IN we can make a good go at it. How much do you expect use to folk out? for a decent squad. You can spend **** loads and still get relegated. I'm sick of this mentality in British Football that you have to spend money to get some kind of success. It's about getting the right players at the right time. There are enough clubs who spent money like it was going out of fashion and basically failed. O'Leary spent £120 million on player where did that get us. M.O.N spent million on players and got nothing. Moyes spent £60 million on 2 players and the Scum got 7th. and again I repeat... the right coach with the right players at the right time and you get success
