Think you got it right with the ego thing. Cellino always finds some way to **** it up when the supporters start feeling a bit of positivity and the worse thing Evans can do is become popular with the support. His already had the shot across his bows about "talking too much about next year". To keep his job he needs to get us promoted whilst making it look like it's all thanks to the "president" (and what egotistical ****er insists on being called that?)
