Good post, Billy. My first impression on seeing the video of the goals was the same as yours. I think Phillips suffered from being too young. What I mean is that he has the same problem as our other youngsters - he gets tired towards the end of the game. In his case, he deceives by still gamboling like a spring lamb, but the important part is the mental fatigue they all share as a charateristic, and the consequent loss of concentration. You can get away with it a lot of the time on the wings, but you will always be found out in the centre of the park. Now if we had a Barton-like DM playing, the benefit would be 2-fold. Apart from getting the kids out of trouble with his own experience & ability, he would be able to do their thinking for them when they were tired, by telling them what to do & constantly reminding them to concentrate. To me, there's no point in having your commander back at headquarters when you're looking for immediate direction in the trenches. We lack leadership where it's hurtng us most.
A little reminder for everyone, just to get your perspective right - we're still only 4 points of the top, same as we were before this round of games. I cannot think of one team in the Championship where everything is going right for them, and the league table clearly underlines this. Everyone's in trouble, and they're wrking on it, just like us. It's far too early to make any sort of predictions for any team. So chillax, as the kids would say.
Cellino can't be blamed this time around and in a way that worries me. He has employed a good solid back room team, he has allowed Rosler to have a helping hand with a team of coaches, we have a head of recruitment and he has spent some serious money on players from these shores. If results don't start to come how long will it be before Cellino looks at how much it is all costing and decides to sweep them all out the door as things are no better than before? So far Cellino has showed a massive improvement as an owner and a few more results going against us might undo the strides made so far.
Ristac, you are correct in that Cellino is still the biggest variable at Leeds .. a lot is going to depend on his court cases, but it looks as if he is going to trust Adam Pearson to guide him .. Pearson is big on stability, and he should help to steady Cellino's hand, but you just never know Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Genuinely impressed by that post, Ristac. Big, big change from last season. Hope we do well enough to keep you away from the dark side this season. I did worry for you at times last season. (As an ex- Samaritans Listener, I shoud know what I'm talking about - but do accept that the written word is unintentionally deceptive, so apologies if I've misinterpreted). Just got Glory to worry about this season. Tempted to shout 'JUMP' already
Why do you think Derby are better no I don't think so Reading totally controlled last nights game at Wed so I hope we will on Sat
I am a bit lost with this comment as I haven't openly said they are better but while on the subject I do believe they are miles ahead of us.
Glad I'm not the only one who would be for Barton signing. Don't think he's likely but I can't think of anyone else with his experience and quality who would be available.
After watching the Donny game, I have to say I wouldn't mind playing Turnbull. Looks confident and assured, and my god is it a nice change seeing a goal kick reaching its intended target
Cheers guys [emoji106] typical leeds result for his first match NOT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
