Ok I have some news / information that you may find of interest (or not). I spent the day on Friday with 3 other guys, golfing, lunching, few beers etc. One of the guys I have met once before and knew a bit about him but I have spent a bit of time researching this weekend and he is 100% for real. For obvious reasons, I cannot give his name but I can say for sure he is influential / well respected on the financial side of the game (he is helping Randy Lerner try to sell Villa & that is how I knew / know Lerner has more than a passing interest in trying to buy Leeds but can't because he can't move Villa for what he wants). My new friend is, however, working with someone else that is actively trying to buy us. He is and I quote "a really good guy that will definitely take Leeds right back to the top". Intrigued though I am I simply couldn't get a name. The problem is, Cellino does not want to sell because he is totally convinced we will get promoted this year (although my friend stated that is considered laughable within the game and simply will not happen). Price is irrelevant - he does not want to sell even though our guy genuinely has the money needed. Cellino's over indulgence in his recreational pass-time of choice is why he is so erratic and, although Pearson is trying to contain him it will not last. In the meantime, our suitor has stayed in close, friendly contact with MC because his strategy is that, when MC realises around October we are not playing like Juventus, he will be far more open to selling because he does not think he will hang around for another season in the Championship (never mind other court cases). There are also big murmurs high up within the game that ownership rules are not robust enough. We are not picked on as some fans like to believe, there are many influential people that want Leeds back in the top flight and are aghast at the owners we have had - they are trying to squeeze Cellino to help us long term not to punish us. I guarantee you this is not he says, she says it is real - hope you find it interesting and roll on October (even if it means another dreary start to a season).
Indeed, it all may turn out rosey yet and i hope it does There's still the same feeling to it at the moment mind...
Pity some of these guys didnt surface before Cellino bought in. Of course there are probably less skeletons in the cupboard now so more may become interested. All irrelevant unfortunately as long as Cellino decides to keep his plaything
I think you will find it was because GFH went looking for Cellino and he got the jump on most others. Fact is, Lerner was trying to offload Villa cheaper a year ago to try and buy Leeds but couldn't get it through quick enough. Don't know who the other guy is or why now but he obviously thinks Cellinos plaything may become a thing of the past sooner rather than later.
firstly to follow up Dave and Doc, yes £50 million is ****ing ridiculous for a 20 year old but that's Citeh's money and they have played stupid with some of their Transfer that haven't panned out. Anybody remember the Robinho episode. If I was a scouser fan I'd be worried at who Rogers is going to bring in. I read an article online a few months ago that pointed out that the majority of Roger's signings for Liverpool have been misses. Secondly I'm not suprised there is someone sniffing around the club wanting to buy us. We're a big club with a big tradition we've just had **** owners over the last few years. Only we need is an owner that isn't a **** owner of a megalomaniac who is doing this for his own ego.
For over 12-years we have had crap owners who have all raided the small piggy bank, raped us and moved cash offshore and in some cases shafted each other and finished up in a desert jail. owners who bent the rules bent legislation and abused people and when in court was using club cash to pay their fines. makes no sense to see us languishing down here when village pub teams like Wigan, Burnley, WBA, Stoke, Blackpool, Hull, Derby, Watford etc are taking their 300 fans to away games, the prem deserves our fans army in their stadiums and that's why we get almost as much air time on Sky Sports as the tope 4 prem clubs each season. Unless they just like to talk about our crazy owners
Very interesting post, Marcos, and thank you for sharing it with us. It raises a few points: - If true, and I have no reason to suppose it's not, then it makes me laugh out loud at all the speculators & conspiracy theorists who were convinced that Cellino was due to sell up any minute. - It's also comforting to hear that there is someone waiting in the wings that will be an improvement on Cellino. Let's not forget that Cellino has been good for us to date. It's been rocky, but we've got rid of most of our deadwood & debt. We have a lot of promising youngsters, and a sound financial & backroom structure to take us forward. I don't care what anyone says - I'll always be grateful to him. - Nothing will happen in October. Cellino will stick at it. He did at Cagliari, and he will here too. The only thing that will oust him is the FL/FA, but I think he'll simply see that as a challenge & work round it (as he has already done). - I have to disagree about the beaks singling us out. They have. Look at the attention that Birmingham or Blackpool should have attracted, for instance. Doesn't compute. No headlines to be made compared to the scalp of Leeds. I'll take a lot of convincing that they haven't singled us out. e.g. why are scum allowed to run with £1bn of debt? Why is this allowed. If the Sky money drops (which it may well do), then they're history. Why don't the beaks look more at this type of widespread financial imprudence rather than trying to catch us out on small techncalities?
Hi Wj - not my opinion, repeating information. Totally agree it has always felt like why is it always us BUT, by hitting Leeds a far greater message is sent out than hitting (with respect) Birmingham, Blackpool, Doncaster etc - that is how it is seen from the other side of the fence - unfortunately, from our side it seems like rocks are being thrown!! As far as scum are concerned, you cross over into the very difficult territory of the powers that be needing them for their own personal gain - the world ain't fair but the more powerful you get the fairer it becomes I guess

It is at least a little comforting knowing that the infrastructures are coming about. Hopefully no more annual reports showing end end losses of 25m, and the threat of extinction or / and points deductions?
I believe Glorys comments are taking into account a post I made a few minutes ago regarding catering rights being brought back and....... Ahem... Ground purchase is high on the agenda
