About bloody time too! Leeds Boss Neil Redfearn: Listen, Chris Dawson Will Get Chance Neil Redfearn has lavished praise on Leeds United youngster Chris Dawson, someone he feels is sure to have a bright future at the club. Dawson is starring for the club's Under-21 side this season, most recently producing a dazzling display against Brentford, and knocking on Redfearn's door for a spot in the senior side. However, the Leeds boss is reluctant to throw Dawson into the first team when a number of other starlets are already holding down a regular starting spot, being wary of playing too many youngsters in the same side. But Dawson has a firm fan in Redfearn, who is sure the attacking midfielder has a bright future at Elland Road and told BBC Radio Leeds: "Chris has done well. I just think at this moment in time from where we are, you've just got to be careful how many that you blood at the same time. "You want to give them a proper chance. He's done ever so well. I watched the Under-21s game against Brentford and he was outstanding at Elland Road. "There is no doubt in my mind that Chris Dawson is going to be a big part of what's happening at Leeds United for years to come. "But it's about the right time and the right opportunity and I'm really mindful of the fact that we don't put too many in at once", the 49-year-old added. Dawson was handed his first team debut for Leeds in 2013 by former manager Neil Warnock. Redfearn in turn gave Dawson his first senior appearance since making his Whites debut against Cardiff City as a substitute earlier this season.
So now we know. Looks like we've seen the last of Adryan ... LUFC Redfearn explains Adryan absence Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has explained the absence of Adryan from the side since the turn of the year. The young Brazilian has made just one championship appearance since the start of this year and he has been a surprise omission from the squad despite the sides good form. The 20-year-old is on a season long loan from Brazilian side Flamengo with Leeds having the option of making the deal permanent in the summer and whilst Redfearn says there is no doubting his talent, he has lost his way at Elland Road. "Adryan is on a deal that is a loan to buy," Redfearn told BBC Radio Leeds. "It is expensive. The boy obviously has talent, he is a smashing kid, he loves his football and he trains and works hard every day. "He has done well at times but I think, if I am being honest, he has lost his way a little bit and I think one or two of the younger players have caught him up. "He is only a young lad and he is like any other young player, sometimes they go into the team, they do their bit and it works for them and then they lose their way a little bit. You then have to take them out of the firing line, put your arm around them and get them playing to their potential again. "There are also a lot of other factors. He is a long way from home, he knows at the end of the season he might or might not be here. "There is no doubting his ability but at this moment in time he is a human being and he is not playing as well as he has done in recent months." Adryan had to wait until October before making his debut in the Leeds side when he came off the bench in the game at Rotherham United and he started nine of Leeds next twelve games as well as being a used substitute in two other games. His last start came in the FA Cup tie at Sunderland at the start of the year before he was withdrawn just past the hour and he has played just sixteen minutes since in the 3-2 home defeat to Watford when he came off the bench.
Not hard to work out a solution, drop and rest Cook play Dawson, Redfearn doesn't seem to think before engaging his mouth.
But not Morison, Sharp, Austin, Cook or Mowatt. Yet Redders put him forward as a nominee for young player of year award, he doesn't make sense, although I don't think I'd be too far off with my other thoughts on that. Personally I think Redders just makes up excuses and cover ups.
