The bloke is a grade a ****. Why are you giving him. airtime Ell?

In the dressing room after the Charlton play off final.

"I will never forget being back in the dressing room. It was deadly quiet until Mervyn Day, who felt he could have done better for one of Shirtliff's goals, stood up to apologise.

"Merv, as devastated as anyone, told us that he should've shut his legs and then Billy, so quick witted jumped in and told him, 'Merv, it's not your fault son. I blame your Mother for not keeping her legs shut!'

"The dressing room was in hysterics but we were absolutely devastated after coming so close to promotion and it took us a long time to get over that defeat."

Worst trip ever. All the way back from birmingham everyone too pissed off to speak. Trowel services got wrecked!

Did you make the trip?

YEP,
And had gone to the away leg before the rep,ay. Charlton were playing at selhurst park and we got stuck in a monster traffic jam on the m25? And arrived just before half time.

We had a decent side that year and should have gone up and beaten Coventry to get to wembley.

And we took the lead against Cov. David Rennie glancing header from a corner.

I remember watching the play off final on teletext. I could not believe we lost

If Ormsby has booted the ball out the rest would have been history.
But having been in Leppings lane and gone through that tunnel into a gentle pen I know how much bollocks South yorkshire police are still talking at the hillsborough inquests. It very nearly happened to us.
