    It would appear he called Jerome a negro in Italian !What a lot of fuss over nothing I am sure we have all been called much worse and no doubt Jerome will know when he plays at ER

    Jerome would have really lost it if he had been called a footballer <laugh> This stuff is a joke and I'm sure the likes of Austin and big Duke think its all crap too.

    It's the same word in Italian and is considered offensive in Italy depending on what situation it's used in. Ironic that a couple of hundred years ago the term 'black' was considered offensive and replaced by 'negro'.

    Martin Luther King Jr used the word negro to identify his race in his famous 1963 speech I Have A Dream. Malcolm X and the black activists of the 1960's maintained the word 'negro' was offensive and connected to the slave trade. It was gradually replaced in common usage by the term 'coloured'

    It's now gone full circle and the only term deemed acceptable is 'black', the term originally deemed offensive <doh>
