He actually said it to LUTV Speaking to LUTV, Hockaday said, "I have named the starting XI for Chesterfield and there was a few people happy, a few people relieved and a few people who were ok and the response was very good from those that are not starting, it was 'ok, how do I get into this team?`. "For the moment, the team I have picked for Chesterfield is my best team. There are one or two grey areas but most people who have seen us play will agree it is not far off the team I will want to pick. I have picked the team that would pretty much start the first game of the season." “I want to be getting my best players as I see them three 90-minute games before Millwall. We’ll turn up the intensity. “At this time the team has to be my strongest. It’s a fight for the jersey. I’ll give 11 people a jersey on Saturday and then it’s up to them to keep it. I’ve got to pick what I see as my strongest team and that nucleus is what we’ll build on for Millwall. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....aday-confident-whites-will-be-ready-1-6752461
I won't be judging anything after 3 games, will leave that to others. If we are top after 3 we won't be a Barcelona and if we are bottom we won't be a millwall.Cellino has had to get rid of a few and try to sort out the money side before trying to rebuild the team.Ken Bates and GFH both did it the other way and fans now want Cellino to do the same.
Correct. Difference being chesh, thankfully Cellino will do it his way as he has a lifetimes experience in running a football club and doesn't give a flying feck about trying to please everyone by bullshitting the fans with false promises for the club a la the previous two incumbents
The YEP are a bit scathing this morning about the team. Hocks team looks an awful lot like last seasons failure team that capitulated so badly. If Hock thinks this is his best team then we're goosed. They like the keeper and the kid and the rest stunk the place out.
Yep a fresh approach is what was needed. He may be proven wrong but at least hell have tried and put his money where his gob is. How many times have we been able to say that about any of our previous owners?
Sorry mate but it does get wet, muddy and fooking freezing in Italy too. And I've seen plenty of English players with their namby pamby gloves on when it's nowhere near cold. I just don't get this xenophobic 'we need British players for the cold winter months' attitude.
Very true FORZA our so called British players have been crap in the cold winter months every season for years. When the Brits retire to the central heating of the house the Italians and Swiss go skiing.
Hello all ... well, its not looking great at the minute, and I am going to point a finger in one direction only, HOCKADAY ... let's be absolutely clear about one thing here, our Head Coach and his Assistant are fcuking useless, they should never be allowed near a League Two club never mind a Championship club ... we are going to have a big problem with Hock and Junior trying to develop the team and get them firing on match days ... I see lots of heartache while Hock is here, and Cellino will have to go out and get a recognised, quality coach in and get away from his Football Manager mentality ... Look, Derby County really struggled and then McLaren comes in and suddenly they are flying and easily one of the best teams in the division playing youngsters in their team ... Burnley were nowhere and lost their top scorer and yet Gravel Throat got them promoted without marquee signings ... there is a lot to be said for the quality of your manager, and Hock simply isn't quality ... I really don't like his approach so far, with his focus being on "hard work" ... so for him it's "yes we were awful and got beat, BUT you cannot boo the players because they worked hard, and its your opinion if they were good enough or not" ... well Hock, sweat alone does not win matches, yes it may make us harder to beat but this division is all about three points ... his ridiculous defence of the shocking display at Mansfield with the "we deserved a 0-0" says everything about his lack of intelligence ... now his latest rubbish is "picking my best eleven" against Chesterfield and playing White and other clowns in it ... I mean really, WTF????? The key thing for me is I can't see him having the respect of the players, and I cannot see them walking through walls for him ... this is going to end in tears and Cellino will need to change his approach ... I think Cellino's angry outburst regarding the Viviani signing may well have something to do with his frustration at what he's seen from Hockaday so far ... Hock may well have talked a good game when they met, but it's another thing completely leading a team into the cauldron that is Leeds United and the competitive battlefield of the Championship where every team raises their game to 150% when they play the Whites ... Hock will be an epic fail
Billy I echo most of your sentiments but: I need to give the Hock the benefit of the doubt until we start playing proper league games. Yes the results and team have been shyte to date, but these are meaningless games just yet. he needs to keep his gob shut because every time he opens it he puts his foot in it. he has no idea what his best team is yet and if he really does think that Morison and White are the real deal, well he's fooked and will be gone before the end of august.
I just look at how many times we simply didn't turn up and didn't look bothered, and that was with a team full of Brits - I don't think you can say foreign players would be worse, it couldn't get any worse really. As it stands I'd rather Cellino coughed up for a decent coach than buying any players. I'd even prefer to see someone like Carbone. If as looks likely we're going to have a team of mainly Italian players at least they'd respect him. Doesn't matter who we sign we're going nowhere but down with Hockaday and Junior.
Good afternoon to Matt Neil etc from a very sunny cote de Bardsey I wrote my thoughts out yesterday called out of the frying pan .... We need some width if Rodney Hoch cant see this he should be gone far away and take Morison and Hunt and Kenny with him! As for the fans booing Morison sheer frustration at the thought at what hes on!Perhaps they will drive him out
Four teams that will save you from that fate.... Blackpool, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Rotherham.... plus if you are in serious trouble, he will change the manager without a seconds thought and raid the transfer market... but it doesn't look good
Cellino has a so called 3 yr plan for promotion, but if he isn't careful we could be relegated and that'll feck any plans up.
As far as I can remember the most successful Leeds United teams had mainly British and Irish players, I think Cellino is making a mistake by bringing in cheap imports. That's just my opinion and I hope I'm proved wrong.
Just watched the Hock interview and he seems fairly honest about things. I think he'll be ripping into a few players as he was disappointed with not finding the net again from open play, and also how we went from 1-0 up to going behind as the players stopped!!! The easiest thing in the world to defend against is long balls to big players yet we conceded 2 goals to that tactic, and he aint happy. Sort it out then Hocky
