But then we might as well let Cellino and Salerno get on with it and concentrate on the Italian leagues, as they are doing. The players are better than the likes of Hudson and Bruce, and would accept a lower wage.

As has been said already, from now on we cut our cloth accordingly.

Sorry about delay, Mike. Away on a break with the wife & can't post to NOT606 on my phone (on lappie now). Not going to game. New Inn sounds like a plan if we're talking about the Nilwall game. I'll try to remember my calculator to keep the score, 'cos if we can put 16 past a crap amateur Italian team, it's almost certain it'll be a cricket score against a team that are even worse.

Sampdoria director confirms Berardi will sign for Leeds United

    BY JOSH FISK ⋅ JULY 16, 2014 ⋅ POST A COMMENT

FILED UNDER GAETANO BERARDI, LEEDS UNITED, SAMPDORIA

Carlo Osti, the director of Italian Serie A side Sampdoria has confirmed to Italian press that Swiss defender Gaetano Berardi will join Leeds United this summer, so says Sport Witness.

Osti confirms Berardi will join Leeds United

Leeds have been linked with the right back continuously throughout the window and should a move go through, Berardi would become the third Italian to join the West Yorkshire club following the signings of Tommaso Bianchi and Marco Silvestri.

When questioned over summer departures from i Blucherchiati, Osti stated that the Berardi deal is on the “homestretch”, with a deal already finalised between the two clubs. The director also confirmed that striker Stefano Beltrame is likely to join Modena.

CB and what I have seen of him he's very good. The core of the defense that got them promoted with a mighty fine defensive record. Bit older now than then but only by a couple years and as long as the fee isn't outrageous I'd be very happy with this signing. Hopefully might instil some leadership into the defense also.

I agree with the first point you made. But in fairness there are many british players who clearly are good enough, don't sign em for the sake of it obviously but the deals are there to be had.

And as far as Hudson goes, read my last post, very good signing imo.

And also we shouldn't be scared of signing some experience, the team will need some in there. Just young for the sake of young doesn't work either and I think you'll find most successful teams have a good blend.

Really happy with this signing, not for any other reason than I have actually heard his name before
