Historically, that is how these things start. Just look at what has happened in the middle east the last few years. Remember what the Taliban did to the various Buddhist sites in Afghanistan before 9/11?
Seems religion ****s up a lot of things, Just my view hey. In fact I feckin hate all religious beliefs, how can people be so stupid, there you have it. Maybe I annoyed a few billion with that,but...
Freedom of speech is distinct from freedom to oppress. Not all places allow the former and nearly all places practice the latter at least in some respects. There is a movement against many spurs supporters to stop using the y word by Jews, and the educated African-Americans hate the use of the n word by their own ethnic brothers. But the uneducated will never admit that they harm their own. And they will provide ammunition to other uneducated people to believe they have the right to oppress by using the same language inappropriately. You can't make a silk purse from a pigs ear Jonny but I applaud your effort
Jonny...I can't be arsed TBH, there are things in history that people of different persuasions can bring up, I don't really care, I'm not being hard nosed. I wish that I was as clever and intelligent as you and could debate with you all night long, but I'm a man of simple pleasures, Leeds Utd, beer and rock nroll.
Este you'll incur a fatwah on yourself then you'll know all about when you're in Salman Rushdie's attic hidingl
I have to say Jonny, that the people of the US (I refuse to use the term Americans as it's a continental term abused by the people of the US) are not responsible in their use of the freedom of speech. I am a member of a site like this one, for homeowners in Orlando, Fl. You would not believe the racism that is spouted by your fellow countrymen. No-one is spared. They (and there are quite a number of them, and all apparently professional people too!) openly attack anyone from any country. I, and a few other Brits, challenged them & asked the mods to deal with it. Did they? Nope - they backed them up! Apparently if it cannot be classed as a hate crime, then it's ok. As you can imagine, I'm not their #1 fan now. I still believe they are wrong, and cannot abide them citing constitutional amendments to defend their peurile incitement to hate all peoples who are not of the US (although Canadians seem to be exempted for some reason). I'm not suggesting that you are one of these people, Jonny, but I find it a bit rich to find someone from the US lecturing us about moral standards. Rant over. Not aimed at you, Jonny. Although this has being going on for years, it still riles me to hear our colonial cousins lecturing us on racism & general political correctness. Btw, why has the US never had a proper name? We can't call you United Statsians or any such thing.
I hear you and frankly, and disappointngly, I am not surprised by your experience in Florida. For me, Florida is probably the least tolerant of all the US states - much worse than those considered to be "the South" and the bastion of racism. I, and many others, would be very happy if Florida (and Texas) were to no longer be part of this country. If I appeared to be "lecturing us on racism & general political correctnes," then I genuinely apologize. Let's hope I did not even come close to how the English castigated the racist South African National Party government for perfecting the black discrimination that the English created in South Africa when they ruled there.
wouldn't dream of it, mate, you do know he was one of us? Search and take a look at his mother's tombstone.
