Really, really sorry to hear about your illness 18 months is an awful long time to have treatment. It kinda puts things into perspective!!! I'm sure I speak for everyone on the board in wishing you all the very best, and hope you are over the worst of it now. Keep up the fight. M.O.T
Wickersley, I hope you are over the worst and get to take your boy to elland road soon fella, and I hope someone can find a side worth watching for you both when you do. We have a ridiculously large following around the country, but most of them are 40 plus. Its hard to get kids motivated to support rubbish. We can blame everyone from goldfish Pete onwards, but that's what long periods of doldrums do to a club.
Afternoon all from sunny Macedonia. First up, I'll do the bit you'll all agree with & that's a big get well soon to Wickersley, Leeds60 & Mrs Leeds60 (plus elland for his scumitis, but not sure if that's curable ). Now for the bits you might not agree with: 1. Think it was Boggers that said Brown should be playing. I agree wholeheartedly - why has he not played before now? Name me one midfielder - on or off form - who has played better or more consistently than Brown has done since he first joined us. Mr Consistency & hard as nails. Doesn't suffer fools gladly. Essential for our midfield - NOW!!! 2. Ross didn't miss his penalty. It was on target. Ross didn't take a bad penalty - the keeper guessed right. It happens. Get over it. 3. Look at the highlights again Watch Warnock. Ask yourself, if Warnock had manned up & faced the ball, would it have been a goal? Absolutely not, in my opinion. He crapped himself, and it cost us. I noticed someone criticise Pearce for the goal. Wrong! He did well IMO, standing off & covering the angles whilst we regrouped. A cracking shot, & a fcuking fairy shirtlifing left back cost us the goal. Hang your head in shame, Warnock. You're not fit to wear the jersey.
Agree on Brown, I even put him in my suggested XI in the match threads for a couple of weeks, but someone raised the question whether he is maybe on the brink of another automatic contract extension. I think he would help in our "midfield" now, but do we want him automatically getting another season extension to help in what should be (fingers crossed) meaningless games between now and then?
@sport_simon 3m The QC has ruled that the Italian law clearly states Mr Celino is innocent until hearing, therefore the FL must reverse its decision - never saw that one coming
Agree with most of that white jock, apart from the penno. Far to close to the keeper, he only had to guess right to save it. At least he took a run up this time!
Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has said that the Leeds situation on and off the pitch is a ‘joke’. The former Reading manager is refusing to walk out of the Elland Road club, and will stick through the financial crisis the club are in. McDermott said: “I’ve been in football 30-odd years and I’ve never experienced anything like this,” Brian McDermott admits the situation at Leeds is a ‘joke’ “Both on and off the pitch, it’s just a joke when I think about it.” He added: “Someone’s just said to me that people are saying I should resign.
I watched it again & don't agree that it was too close to the keeper. Would need a view from behind the goal, but it looks like it was going in close to the post. 2nd viewing however makes me think that the keeper psyvhed Ross by deliberaely leaving a big space for him to hit it into. Watch again, Bucks & see what you think. (In other words, I now think it was a bad pen. He should have realised the keeper was trying to con him & hit it with some height).
Wickersley Hope you'll take this in the sentiment it was meant but, GET OVER IT MAN Amazing really that BMcD is now saying exactly the same things that Warnock, Macca & Grayson said
Still to close and at a good height. See what you mean about the Keepers positioning though, and he had a great game to be fair. If your keeping it low its got to go at the very corner, which makes it the hardest place to get to. If low and close keeper stands a good chance of saving it with his body or legs IMO
Doc ... agree that McD is starting to repeat previous managers, but he has had the roughest deal so far ... that said I don't think he can possibly stay on as manager unless we replace at least 80% of this awful squad ... if we keep most of the dross then the next manager must simply be a one season wonder who is capable of avoiding relegation while we run down contracts, then bring in a manager with pedigree to build his own squad and push on ... pointless wasting a manager with talent on this group Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I know what you mean Milkyboy. Twenty odd years ago (when I was in my 20s) living and working in London there seemed to be loads of Leeds fans my age everywhere. As you say, nowadays you'd be lucky to find one under 40. I remember having a discussion with a fella called Jonty on the old BBC606 about what is a good age to take our sons to their first game. I said back then that the biggest danger to the club's future is losing a whole generation of new fans that we'll never get back. And that was about FIVE YEARS AGO !!!
Sounds like GFH have the money to pay the wages but are waiting to see if they can make it someone else's problem?
Wickersley, I moved to London about the same time as you, and met some born and bred tooting boys who were leeds fans (plastics obviously!). I think its unlikely that would happen now. One of them is minted now. I keep telling him to buy the club, but unfortunately he made his money by not being stupid!
Apparently Cellino has just been on SSN news? Said something about he was talking to farnan and together Leeds?
