I'm having a good day first I get offered a job interview in PR and then we're signing/signed two players.
It's great to see this signing & the probable upcoming signings. Sadly, the Bates years have left me a terrible cynic. Why are we getting excited about signing other people's cast-offs? In the past we'd be signing the BEST players from a team, not the ones that are surplus to requirements - and they'd be falling over themselves to sign for us! Not any more these days, sadly. It clearly paints a picture of our standing these days. I can only cross my fingers and hope that this is indeed progress, albeit a smidge.
Jock if BMcD can move 2 or 3 out of the club and bring in 3 or 4 much better players I think it shows intent. I think the signs are going to be good going forward and we've seen too many years of not getting any quality in so players of quality dont even turn up to look. By the summer if he can do the above, we will deffo have players wanting to come because they can see the difference and ambition Of course it all may collapse to day by 6pm and we have just Stewart and thats it, but I'm trying to be positive and want Kebe and Barnes and Sharp and Wells .... why not
Doc, I acknowledge that BM is full of intent, but ask yourself what difference his 'quality' summer signings have made? Not a lot! It's on the park that we find out their true worth, which is why I'm cautious about any 'cast off' signing. There's a reason that they're surplus to requirements, and that's what worries me. We have a long history of bringing in rejects who fail to impress, & BM's not immune to this.
It all makes sense now. Last night was the last ever time we will see Leeds play without width and attacking intent. They knew I had missed Rochdale and didn't want me to miss out on one last opportunity of watching hoofball.
