Hey'up 60, no malice, The MOM award to Bamba come as a bit of a shock to some fans, as can be seen on this forum. With the mistakes Bamba made, which led to goals plus, and getting MOM award doesn't really say much for the other players performances. Maybe Bamba's goal was his saving grace In the eyes of whoever awarded him the MOM, but some have disagreed, it all comes down to personal opinions and how each individual views the game. Had Bellusci made the same mistakes, many would be calling for him to be strung up by his foreskin and left to dangle indefinitely, such is the divide between Bamba and Bellusci. Some were calling for Bellusci to be replaced by Bamba, they got their wish (for whatever reasons) and look what happened, we conceded 2 goals and Bamba nearly give away a third. I personally see Taylor and Dallas as having a better game, Cooper played well too, but it's all about personal opinions and how each individual views the game/performances........
I can see Bellusci playing in then bridcutt role if we lose him. I'd be interested to see Wooton have a run at cb if that happened. The blue sky here is he keep bridcutt and sign a championship standard cb but im basing the above on how we like to fudge it. And im warming to Evans, although I see a few of our wins could have been draws without a bit of luck but the pressing, game plan and substitutions have improved. Wood being injured (im sure I read that somewhere) is a major downer as his goals tends to come in spats, after he scored against derby I initially thought he would be good for another couple in the next 3 or 4 games.
As I said LL I didn't watch the game so I can only go on the goals as seen on several sites but Derby's goals were both top drawer down to quite excellent skills shown by Ince and Hendricks so I think a lot of defenders would have been made to look foolish. I must admit I prefer Bamba to Belusci but not as captain that must stay with Cooper
Wood went off holding his hamstring but... Leeds United have received good news that the injury that forced Chris Wood off in the draw with Derby County on Tuesday night is a minor strain. Wood was substituted just minutes after giving Leeds the lead in the 2-2 draw at Elland Road. The New Zealand international was sent for scans by Leeds on Wednesday with results revealing that it was just a minor strain and he could be available for the clash with MK Dons this weekend according to head coach Steve Evans.
So when I said Wootton is improving after watching the game and you said i was wrong , you were basing this off the 2 minute highlight reel. **** me.
I've said for a long time that Bellusci would be better placed as a DM, Bucks, so wholly agree with you. He's got all the attributes, and it would be handy to have the defence behind him for when he makes one of his inevitable mistakes. I have no idea what Wootton would be like as a CB, but that's the position we bought him for, not RB, & we all tend to forget this when we criticise him (myself included). Interestingly, Evans wanted to sign him as a CB for Rotherham, & Evans seems to know what he wants in a player, so it may come to pass. Whatever happens, we deffo need a better CB to play alongside Cooper (who's turned out to be quite a steal, hasn't he?).
Wootton will never be a first rate defender he can't think quickly enough he saunters back when defending and the penalty he gave away against Doncaster shows how nieve he really is sorry Neil but like Mowatt he ain't ever going to make it
Never say never, Mike. Imagine you're a plumber & the boss gives you electrician jobs all the time, as you've got some basic skills. Not only that, but all of the customers give you dogs abuse whether it's deserved or not. Hardly going to build up your confidence, is it? I trust Evan's eye for a player (so far), and if he sees a CB in Wootton, then I'm happy to take the chance on him too. Let's face it, Bamba & Bellusci screw up too - it's not just Wootton, so why would you single him out, especally as he's playing out of position? (You is a general term, btw, and applies to me as much as anyone else). There could be a suprise lying in wait for us all some day! As a footnote, tell me when he got a run as CB, and for how many games. (I'll answer it for you - he hasn't!). We should really be judging him as a CB, not as a RB. Any criticism should be directed at the manager for selecting him out of position.
Are you sure Neil McDermott didn't try him there it was his buy after all,BTW happy prosperous healthy new year MIKE
Did someone actually say Neil Derby was a crap team well I admit they have been beaten by us and one other
Yip, Glory did, hence my signature change. Can't remember what thread it was on, but OLOF is my witness.
Neil I told you not to do it.... Now the poor bloke is even more confused than usual. Sort it out........
If you want to fish dont hide behind him. It wasnt right when chesh did it last month..... We can both get in enough scrapes without help...
Well you and Neil both think he could do a job there I have my doubts he is too head strong and would give too many silly free kicks away in dangerous positions
