    A mate has texted me that David Luiz made FIFA's team of the tournament. I can't find any reference to this team of the tournament, I assume this is a load of bollocks? Seriously if he is in then the world has gone nuts. How the **** did Messi win the golden ball? He was good but come on, Rodriguez was unbelieveable. Hummels, Lahm, Neuer, Garay, Demichelis, De Vrij - there were loads of candidates ahead of the Messi. He isn't daft or arrogant either, he looked thoroughly embarrassed collecting that award.

    My team would probably be:

    Ochoa

    Lahm
    Hummels
    Gonzalez
    Blind

    Mascherano
    Kroos

    Cuadrado
    Rodriguez
    Robben

    Muller

    It does seem wrong to leave out Sanchez, Diaz of Chile. Valencia of Ecuador. Herrara of Mexico. Schweinstiger, De Vrij, Neymar, Neuer, Romero, Garay, Demichelis, Zabeleta, Rojo. There were loads of good performances.

    The cynic in me says Neuer, Rodriguez and Messi are Adidas guys with Messi the golden boy and Rodriguez is heir apparant. So they got the awards and they were handed to best support the marketing regime. If Rodriguez wins Ball and Boot, its advertising missed and their big star walks away a failure. Throw in David Luiz is picked in the side knowing full well it will be a controversial selection bringing negative press, who is his sponsor? Nike.

    Or maybe I'm just overly cynical <laugh>
