Just a bit of fun. Could be linked to the Transfer rumours thread but I wanted to take this in a slightly different direction.
We have heard that the club identifies transfer targets / replacements for current squad members in advance. So I am interested in who people would think would fit the bill for various players (notably potential departures). This could be based on real rumours or own opinion on who would fulfill a similar role in the team. Hence distinguishing it from the main rumours thread.
Note : If the mods think this is unnecessary as there is a transfer rumours thread then this should probably just be locked / deleted rather than merged.
My thoughts based on what seems to be floating around:
Most likely departures -
Morgan > Clasie
Cork > Place in squad taken by Reed (whose place is taken by Stephens)
Clyne > Byram
Jay Rod > Ings
Yoshida > Squad place taken by Stephens and McCarthy (could leave us a little short)
Alderweireld > No idea who we could get to fulfill the gap this would fill. Both from quality and versatility.
Other Key players to consider:
Pelle > Would have said Gudetti but he seems to have stalled in Scotland. Perhaps Bamford next season if Chelsea secure the pointless signing of the young Croatian striker
Tadic > ?
Forster > ?
