Not much of the above is actually relevant as to whether someone should have been honest with their own views at a press conference. For what it is worth I think they are harmless views and I'm not at all insecure about a Phoenix-Rangers...

Just to argue against your points though, Rangers lost £7m in their first 6 months of accounts, a figure which includes season books income. Charles Green sounds like a mental demagogue spouting nonsense about moving to the English Premier League, bringing UEFA to court and stating his club are bigger than Southampton etc - not exactly sounding as if he as a grand master plan with his masonic brethren in the SFA.

Two years from now I'd be very surprised if Rangers are in the Champions League. They would need to win the SPL to get the only spot, and they'd need to do it from a situation where they are losing money at the minute and still being pumped out of the cups by SPL teams with lower wage bills.

If Celtic fans don't buy tickets for any reason (including as a protest against Rangers) then they need to blame themselves for that situation.

Sky are parading SPL players one after the other saying they want SEVCO in the top division. Interestingly no one is given an airing who is against.

This is gathering force and any Celtic fan who naively ignores it will see the consequences. You say SEVCO lost £7m in seven months, all the more reason for you to realise that they desperately need CL money by hook or by crook.

Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly.

Celtic are not so far ahead of them that the honest mistakes cannot make up the gap.

Smell the coffee.

Am just about to have my first coffee of the day.

Sevco wont ever bother us Albert.

They'll occasionally crack the top half of the top flight.

It is this attitude which bothers me. Currently they have had 11 players red carded against them in the forth tier in order to help them chase the Gretna record, which has now gone.

If they are catapulted corruptly into the SPL what makes anyone think that the corruption will stop there?

They need CL money for survival. Their figures don't add up.

Divide £6.4 million by £250 for the average ST and there are mid twenty thousand paying customers. ST complimentaries are shown on other forums. They lost £7 m when they received hundreds of thousand for Davis etc.

Mark my words our complacency will be our downfall. They will be PUT back on top, by hook or by crook in two years if they are put into the SPL next season. This is what the campaign is all about.

to think there are no strings getting pulled is just stupid.

you think they will just stay also rans for the rest of time?

you think they dont know they need cl money?

and, you dont believe there is a charm offensive underway in the media?

far fetched?

i miss it!

You can't polish a dead turd. No matter how hard they try. If they ever reach the top flight, they'll be average at best.

Sure, they'll get the same favours that Rangers use to get. I suspect they are probably getting them now and they still aren't as good as Gretna were in that division.

Rangers last won something on an even playing field in the 1970's.

The new club will not get the same financial breaks as the old one. When asked to pay for tickets, they won't do it. Especially at SPL prices. This will have an impact on how they perform on the field. When that is no better than average, no **** will go and the cycle will repeat itself. Without the massive gap between prize money any more, nobody can get the jump on the opposition any more, except for the one club that gets a shot at the CL. If we can get there more often than not, we should have the title sewn up for a long long time. If a challenge comes, it won't be them.

Quite right. I should have said financially level playing field. There wasn't this entirely artificial disparity between one club and the rest that there was under Ironside.

Oh yeah, Sky want them. They'll package it as the "old firm" and we'll all buy into it and the rivalry will be great fun and all that, but neither of the two clubs will gain more than anyone else in the division.

A cup meeting might be worth a few more quid tv wise? I'm not so sure how that works.

Celtic giving up the big dough for finishing top has theoretically secured us at least a generation of dominance. No team can monopolise second and more. That means no club can rely on that as a platform. Getting to the CL 3 out of every 5 years should see us out of sight for ever more. I know sport doesn't always work like that..... But most of the time it does.

I think this is the time for me to quote, "**** The Pope"! Also, it is pretty obvious, that the vatican want the Argies to steal the Falklands, well, I'll tell you something, you can **** off you fenian bastards, they are ours, always will be!<grr>
