For those of us who have pirated Sky with inconsistent channel orders and ****ey tv guides, which channel is it?
Just watched the magic of messi on sky. He is the greatest.... Efe Ambrose promised he'd keep him quiet. When the going got tough, the tough got going.
JUVENTUS are set to splash out £5million on Italian defender Federico Peluso ahead of facing Celtic at Parkhead. The injury-hit Serie A leaders need to bolster their defence with influential stopper Giorgio Chiellini likely to miss the first leg of the Champions League clash against the Hoops on February 12. And Juve are ready to up their bid for the Atalanta ace — who can play in the centre or as a left-back — after their first offer of £3m was turned down over Christmas. The Turin giants are this week expected to meet the Nerazzurri’s asking price of £5m for experienced Italian international Peluso, who’s been in excellent form for the Bergamo club. The 28-year-old will be eligible to face Neil Lennon’s men in the Champions League because Atalanta are not in Europe. If Juve land their No1 winter signing target it’ll demonstrate their determination to improve. Looks like they're very afraid of Gary Hooper and determined to stop him scoring against them at any cost - first, they're apparently trying to buy him and now they're bringing in a new defender ...
What strikes me in this article is the difference between the EPL and the rest of Europe. Imagine how much an experienced International would go for in the EPL? £5m? More like £15m
Yeah. EPL premiums are crazy. We are told (or were told) that stars came to Celtic for one last pay day. An entire existence in the lower reaches of the EPL can be construed as just that. One massive gravy train.
One stat I always recall was when Blackburn were relegated a few years ago they had 8 1st team players on over £70k a week.
I done some work involving a few EPL clubs a few years ago. I thought that a lot of figures being bandied about were all made up....but no. All 100% true. A real eye opener. It sickened me tbh and for a long while I gave up watching anyone but Celtic.
UEFA president Michel Platini has sensationally written off Celtic’s Champions League hopes by insisting Juventus can consider themselves already in the quarter-finals. In an interview with an Italian paper the former Juve star said his old club had effectively been given a bye in the draw for the last-16 clash. The France legend said: “After being drawn against Celtic we can already consider Juve to be in the quarter-finals. “Juventus will count themselves very fortunate. “This comes from someone who understands football and who has played on this great European stage.” Platini – who made over 150 starts for Juventus in a five-year spell from 1982 – added: “Juve are also fortunate because several of the bigger teams will be eliminated at this stage. “They are strong enough to win the Italian championship but I’m not so sure about Europe yet. It’s a matter of mentality. But they will always be the team of my heart.” Platini’s outburst comes just days after he cosied up to Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell. Lawwell revealed the Frenchman congratulated him at the draw, adding: “Platini told me every club wants to play Celtic and for the right reasons. “They love Celtic. They want to go to Celtic Park because of our friendliness and the type of club we are.”
To be taken with Pliny the Elder's translated ancient antidote for poison methinks. Michel François Platini is normally a diplomatic individual so I'd prefer to hear his original interview than take any newspaper's 'interpretation' of it ... or could it be that he's just become another two-faced bighead?
I am raging at that cheese eating surrender monkey. To ra car park , time for a candlelit vigil for our special relationship with uefa.
