It really is overstated, its the most natural thing in the world, a little local discomfort for a while then its all over. I really dont see what all the fuss is about.
I incurred the wrath of the nurses for cracking a joke about an episiotomy in the ante natal class. I was the guinea pig for the rest of the course. It wasn't even a joke, I was doing their job for them because one dummy didn't understand what the nurses were telling him so I gave him an analogy to make sure he understood.
