It was bad enough when Burnley managed to get £6-7M for him from Wolves, but it's just taking the piss now. Shows how **** some of our signings were though, we get relegated and struggle to give away our players, Wolves get relegated and reject a combined fee of over £21M for 2 of their players (someone earlier in the thread for £9M rejected as well).
Burnley's chairman must be laughing all the way to the bank because they have just sold Jay Rodriguez for a similar figure they sold Fletcher for and all they have to show for it is Charlie Austin
BREAKING NEWS: RVP has failed the medical at Man Utd with a back injury caused by carrying arsenal on his back for 4 years.
Indeed they do. But to be fair Andy Carroll was paid for from the crazy sum they got(£50m) for Fernando Torres. Yes,, but again this does help clubs like Hull City. We would not have a sniff of those types of players IF Man Utd did not have the transfer policy they do. As SAF has said many times only the crem de la crem stay at Old Trafford. I agree with you on Paul Pogba by the way. Saw him play @ Ferriby in the PL reserves match and was quality then. FIFA will have to back UEFA all the way for FFP to work properly. It can work and will work as long as the punishments are implemented in a rigerous manner. I would expect an August Sale from Liverpool at some point. But you can understand why Rodgers wants players he knows and trusts to play the system he loves. Charlie Adam would be a good replacement for Petrov @ Villa imo. Liverpool have no chance of being a Top 4 club. They will be lucky to get in the top 6 imo. After Manchester City paid out £25m for Lescott the players you mention above are a snip at the price. Now you know why Wolverhamptons asking price is so high. I shall give W.W. credit for one thing in that they got relegated with no debts and money in the bank. Maybe Jez Moxley could give Duffer Duffen some tips and lessons on how to wheel N deal in the transfer market. ++++++++++++++++++++ One headline today says Manchester Utd = R.V.P. and Arsenal = R.I.P. I would suggest getting £24m for a player who is out of contract next summer is great business. Wenger could do much worse than go in for Demba BA and CISSE from Newcastle not to mention Matt Jarvis from Wolves.
SAF set to offer striker Javier Hernandez to Arsenal as part of the R.V.P. transfer deal. If so, IMO thats great business for Arsenal. JH suits Wengers style more than Fergies. ++++++++++++++++ Everton, Southampton and Sunderland battling for Blackpool winger Matt Phillips. Sunderland leading to the chase to sign up F.A.T Louis Saha.
Liverpool have reached an agreement with Heerenveen for the transfer of Oussama Assaidi, subject to a medical.
What Song would that be then ? Thanks for the Memories or maybe Tears for Souvenirs by Ken Dodd ? It wont be a good day @ White Hart Lane soon when Luka Modric goes as well. I would suggest its a better day for the 2 Manchester clubs and Chelsea who have seen 2 of the possible top 5 clubs become weaker. Portsmouth have signed 9(nine) players today. Stranger things have hapened, but it would seem unlikely since Fergie has said how happy he is to now have 4 top quality strikers (Wellbeck, Rooney, RVP and Hernandez) and has compared it to the 1999 strikeforce, Wenger has said he has enough forwards, and Arsenal aren't insisting on it as part of the deal for RVP like Spurs did with Campbell. Berbatov would be the more likely departure.
I didn't think this warranted it's own thread but I wanted to post it somewhere. I just got back from a 4 week holiday in Brazil. I travelled back Rio-Madrid-London in business class (my dad gets them free with work and he gave them to me) Very nice. Anyway, on my Madrid - London flight I was sat next to none other than Fernando Torres, very surreal. I won't pretend I had a massive conversation with him and persuaded him to sign for city. In fact he was quite miserable and didn't take his headphones off the whole flight. I did hand him a glass of orange though, so if he has a good season, I'll feel I had some part in it.
It definitely warranted its own thread mate!! Just make up some of it anyway, it'll keep us going for ages. I bet he talks like Manuel off Fawlty Towers-does he?
Uruquay International who starred in the Olympics. Mr Positive took a very close look and shine to him. Some big clubs have been looking at him in the past incl. Spurs and Inter Milan. Big pressure on Adkins though now. Almost £40m for RVP and Song but will Wenger spend it on anyone ? Arsenal will be a good watch this season for a many a reason. Fulhams Clint Dempsey now appears to be toast. Left out of the weekend squad to play Norwich City. Shame for those who have him in there fantasy teams. SSN are now reporting that that DQPR have signed Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa.
Fulham boss Martin Jol has held out an olive branch of hope to Clint Dempsey. Could it be a case of DEMPSEY and MAKEPEACE by chance ? I think it will all end up in a Glynis Barber myself. ? Tottenham boss AVB wants Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh as he is desperate for strikers. Kaka has been offered to Man Utd by Real Madrid as they look to complete the Luka Modric deal this week. Everton close to agreeing terms for free agent Michael Owen. Liverpool have told Charlie Adam he can go IF anyone offers more than £5m and Joe Cole can also go subject to the right offer. Swansea City defender Alan Tate says that new manager Michael Laudrup is the Best player in training even at the age of 48. Now this does not surprise me at all. Sunderland manager MON says the club will not be held to ransom over the fee required for Wolves striker Steven Fletcher. Seems to me they already are ? £12m offer rejected already. West Ham co-Owner David Sullivan has confirmed that the Hammers STILL owe Sheffield Utd over £10m from the Carlos Tevez affair. Now this is serious piss taking imo. Nevermind buying all these strikers Pay your debts Suillivan. You cannot make this up.
