Got to be now for me. Having got my season ticket in the championship relegation season I would never have envisaged whats happening now, long may it continue!
I wasnt born for the cup final and the 80's and i was very young when le tissier was in his prime so it has to be now for me. I can't remember being this elated with saints.
Looking at the poll results we can draw two conclusions: 1. Most people are caught up in the euphoria of what's currently happening at our club, rightfully so 2. Most people on this forum are young! Damn you all! I suspect it's probably both!
Right now... momentum, bright cogent attacking football, a team you feel would die on the pitch for each other, the fans emotional investment, in a great league competition
The quality of football we are playing at the moment, does make the comments made a few years ago under the Dutch dinlos and a certain ex-chairman that we were playing brilliant football back then as even more laughable. This IS good football, that was, tippy tap nonsense with no end product.
It was a privilege to watch Le Tissier in his pomp, but that period was also interspersed with some hair-rasing moments. I know we have been in lower leagues, but it has been wonderful to be top dogs for once. We are also hopeful of even more progress with everything so positive in the club. I'm beginning to believe that Nicola has it all planned out for us to enjoy success in the Premiership.
When you mentioned your hemorrhoids I crossed you off my 'possible if desperate' list. You have now been deleted from the 'possible if last man alive' list
I remember all the options all too clearly! Nothing compares with the immediate feeling of beating Utd in the 76 Cup Final, but the sustained excitement, and pride, of the early 80s has to get my vote. EVERYONE was scared to come to play us at the Dell - with good reason. We were great to watch. How can we match (yet) the team that finished runners-up in the top division in 83-84 to that season's European Cup Winners ? This season is the best I've felt in a long time, mind you!
