Yeah, think these boys need to step up but we all need to step back & give them a reason to enjoy playing for LFC not fear it. (& yes I know 70k a week should be enough to make them enjoy it but you get my drift!)
i think the point you've made is CRUCIAL. we need to get a bit real. what we have done is to replace over paid prima donnas and to be frank awful terrible, mad free tranfers on mad money with the player we can get. exmaples. torres... hammers on the press STILL despite being on 120-150k per week with us while laying about injured. Meireles, wanted out cos g&h promised to double his wages according to him.. or wanted to be on 150k per week too. Jovanovic on 100k per week... degen on mad money too, players like these didn;t want to leave cos they'd get worse moeny anywhere they went. This is the DISASTER that to be frank successive managers walked us into. Joe cole is slobbing aorund france in an easy league on 90k per week off of us... we are only seeing half back from lille. We've bought players who want to come, player who want to step up. Carroll is on 70k, adam reputedly less.... henderosn yuong and hungry as hell. What we cannot do and can't attract is the likes of aguero or mata or llorente etc as we simply cannot pay them what they'd like and to be frank we can't offer the cl glory either........... lets be realistic Llorente prob wanted 150-200k per week off of us and we could't afford it. Spurs are in the same boat and so are arsenal. we have to compete with them. we can build a good team to compete with them and lets be frank thats as much as anyone can expect. We can win cups, we can maybe even get a title but we cannot pay 150-250k per week as wages like chelsea and city can. So... come on!!!!!! lets see a cup on the side board this year and attract even better players for phase II.
MITO, A lot of what you said is true. However, it is not that FSG CAN'T pay the fees, it's far more of good management practice to say we WON'T pay the fees and will consider other long-term strategies. This is only Phase 1 of a long term plan for LFC and the OP is right - the best is yet to come
fordeck, you are right about won't pay.... but in the end i think maybe arsenal could and did pay fabregas and look we pay gerrard the big bucks. I think what we need to be looking at is a guy whos oh 22 and willing to take 70k per week.... now thats andy carroll, as long as the guy is not injured when we buy him and young and hungry i think we can get players cos if newcastle can we can. finally on rafa i'm imaginging jovanovic and other such tosh so rafa could drop a clanger with the bes tof them.. yes some buys worked too so he had no magic bullet and neither does kenny, mancini , ra or ferguson..... build a team round Reina johnson skertl agger enrique xx Lucas Gerrard xx Suarez xx doni, kelly, coates, adam, downing, carroll, bellamy. so here we are.... what, 10 years on from houlliers great 2001 team still talking about 3 more players and guess what its still the HARD ones to get, the creative wide men and strikers... but look at that squad of options.... it aint bloody bad you know...
