I think we'll always carry three just in case one keeper is ill or injured on a matchday. If we don't always have those three available, we'll end up with no cover on the bench. It's a tricky one with the keepers, it's really a judgement call on all three of Ruddy, Rudd and Steer. How does Lambert rate Ruddy for the number 1 vs a new keeper, and how does he rate Rudd and Steer's future at the club. Beyond that, is it better to send Rudd as the more experienced out on loan and use Steer as No. 3, or is it more imporant for Steer to go out and use Rudd as No. 3. On the other hand, does he rate all three highly enough that we won't bring in anyone? Makes my head spin a bit! Personally, I think the ideal is a good solid keeper initially brought in as back up, if they prove themselves better than Ruddy, so be it. If not, we've a decent keeper already here.
I believe Lansbury and Pacheco qualify as U21s, so Lambert has additional options at the attacking end. I'd like to see a CB who can also play RB and an experienced Keeper as well as a DMF with Prem experience. Lambert seems to be doing fine so far! OTBC!
MF Stephen Hughes FW Aaron Wilbraham FW Oli Johnson MF Anthony McNamee DF Steven Smith FW Cody McDonald MF Owain Tudur Jones That leaves 3 positions available, that you might as well fill(rule states that you do not need a 25 man squad but if you have senior players under contract you they are automatically included, you can't "opt them out" or anything, so it's stay or leave), so either we get 10 additional new signings( including 2 we've already brought in) OR 3 additional players from the reject list earlier. I believe, of these 7: FW Aaron Wilbraham FW Oli Johnson MF Anthony McNamee Do you think with Bennett now signed that we will keep McNamee? I can see midfield being the same as last year, with Bennett as an impact sub, meaning there's not much reason to keep McNamee. Also I feel Johnson (and McDonald) are both unproven at Championship level, let alone Premier League, so will be let go. I think Wilbraham will stay, I also wonder whether Hughes might stay too, being a slightly less attacking option, who also has experience of top flight football (albeit with Rangers, but they are probably equivalent to a mid to low Premier league team), so he might be a good backup? Also, will Lambert take all these players to Germany? If not, we will get an idea of who is in his plans then. Do you think he will leave some of the fringe players and younger guys to play against Wroxham and Histon as part of the City XI (I'm interested as am planning on going to the Histon match)
