So there was a time when id eagerly await the release of a new album from a favourite artist of mine, then id have this ritual of getting baked on my own listening to the whole thing front to back with headphones on, phone off, door locked and only coming up for a spark. Was one of my favourite hobbys back in the day. So the other night i done exactly that again and it was great i cant lie, i really get to listen and soak the music in that way. Anyways albums are dying out in the main, its rare you get one now that makes sense or has any connecting theme or journey between tracks, just a bunch of singles namean? Anyways got me thinking about exploring albums and choons i wouldn't normally hear and obviously sharing those ive listened to front to back myself. So the rules are easy... Actually i Cba explaing just follow my lead yeh.. Album name. And video link if possible? Why you like it, what memories does it bring back, what emotions does it bring out? If its something youve only recently listened to same applies as above but different obvs. Best track? Worst track? Special mention track.? Conclusion /summary Ill go 1st. 808s and heartbreak - Kanye West https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJYvHhnkiV3DQq1MBEB4wJx4DVwACPc8- Only listened to this last night for the 1st time properly using the sucky method (see above) heard many of the tracks on radio over the years but im not a fan of auto tune so i avoided it until now. Overall i liked it a lot more than i thought i would, its a completely different sound and story/theme to his previous albums. You can tell hes married in this one Name says it all really there's lots of tracks about heartbreak, sneaky wimmin and some harsh honesty about his own mistakes. Hes vulnerable in this and thats brave imo. Best tracks - say you will, paranoid and welcome to heartbreak Worst track - bad news Special mention - pinnochio story Overall a success, the singin and autotune leaves a bad taste personally but the production on the tracks is almost perfection and although far from my favourite album of his i still enjoyed almost every track, wont be to everyones taste but ill give it a solid 76/100.
Yeh deffo. I hear that. Thanks man i knew you'd know, i want quality not quantity namsayin Im bakaroonied hence the creative novel. Might bang another review up even. God speed
The odd couple by Gnarls Barkley https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdwlEKd7zjFOb1qr1uqUF5kFMnV_GQC2l Learned this album word for word when i got my hands on it back in the day, i liked thier 1st album st elsewhere that much i was actually waiting for this one to come out at the time. Down HMV same day vibes to cop dat Favourite track - no time soon, cuts deep this one, funeral song vibes. Reminds me of someone. Best tracks - charity case, going on, surprise, she knows. Worst track - blind mary Special mention track - open book, weird at 1st really weird but makes sense eventually Absolutely loved this album, its gospel heavy and has moments of madness but they pull it off well. if gospel had sex with hip hop it would have this little A star student as a kid. Cee loo Green has one of those raspy wide ranged old skool belly belter voices from times gone by which i absolutely love hearing, also note his lyrics throughout the whole album, there's a definite theme there with his word play (see if you can spot it) For those reasons im going all out fangirl and giving it a dripping wet 81/100.
One of my fave albums Why I like? I can listen to this album all the way through…every track is a banger…filthy, murky menacing beats and quick slick verbal bombs…I was hooked. Now I love it because it takes me back to them days when I used to walk around dressed like a Putho. Chinos, chequered shirt top button done, white Tee, Canvas Adidas footwear thinking man run tings forever…them were the days Worst song - N/A pfft Special mention track - So many but I’m going for - Break em off some - Just so back in the day for me..I dunno how to explain but it’s like the background music to my end teen years. So much **** happening and all of it was naughty in one way or another it felt like but it was good, the summers were bangers and chasin pussy n failin exams was the sheeeiat. Conclusion/Summary - you must be gay as fk if you don’t rate feel this **** 96.8/100
What's with the big essays? 'What emotions does it bring out' I voted Fuk u Sucky after seeing that. That's kinda where I stopped reading. Biggie better than 2pac. Hope that helps.
Sucky is obviously on some crazy Ganja journey so he wants to rip into some music albums, peel the layers..good weed init but I agree with your point in general so voted fuk u Sucky aswell
I read the first few lines then scrolled down and seen how much he wrote. My first thought was he's defo more baked than usual. Yeah must be good **** he's smokin
Chase and Status - More than a lot. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBVRMNQZgMQL_57-29_sK8oXN2f-L68ti Was introduced to this album one afternoon round a mates who has decks and is a big drum and bass nut. It was actually him mixing what turned out to be my favourite track of the album 'Take Me Away' into high contrasts 'if we ever' that got me onto the album (disgraceful together them two mixed btw) Its my kinda drum and bass, liquidy smooth, vocal heavy, not too aggressive, although there's one or two that are tbf. All round a great album with plenty there to make you turn ya speaker up to 11 but still gentle enough to play when ya nan pops round. Favourite track - take me away (above) Best tracks - is it worth it, music club, streetlife, hurt you. Worst track - against all odds Special mention - running These lot are bangin as a duo, this is a solid debut album, not a classic but a worthy listen. Im giving this one a semi erect 64/100
Dont lie like there aint a song somewhere that makes you cry like a heartbroken teenager. I know you got feels bruv dont come in here all norvern munky like you don't need a fukin hug sometimes ok. And biggie vs Tupac is another thread. Ill be bangin up some Pac albums soon dont worry bout that my homie
Quasitmoto - The Unseen Was a ground breaking album when this dropped. Even though it went under the radar. Genius from Madlib, and his alter ego Lord Quas. Pure smoked up vibes
Out of the Blue Album 1977, would be a choice of mine, not defining it as a favourite though, as I would also be looking towards Queen and David Bowie around the same time. Worst tracks, would be anything that verges on what I deem as 50's/60's style rock & roll, such as this... I love ELO's use of the orchestra, but it just sounds as though that went through a mixer and came out fooked up. It starts well and then goes downhill very fast.
Finally something decent. As for me, I can't remember the last album I bought... It's been years since I bought one. I've got my playlists set up on Pandora now. I think probably one of Melody Gardot's albums was the last I bought. Couldn't be bothered to write best of/worst of because none of you are going to like it anyway.
