OK maybe the strategy makes some sense. Leclerc is embarrassingly slow on the softs. He's losing time to Gasly.
Seeing 2 Merc and a ferrari driver on a podium is fast becoming a real downer. Theres not a lot of competition for the podium still in this hybrid era!
Only in Bahrain. I don't think Leclercs crash yesterday cost a win. Ferrari had no race pace (nor even as much qualy pace as Toto would have us believe) The gap from Hamilton to Vettel was whatever Merc wanted it to be. Mercedes are as fast as they were 2014-16. It will be 1-2 80% of the races. At least Bottas has stepped up his level, otherwise there really would be no point to watching. The sport just keeps getting less and less competitive. Is it impossible to revert the regulations to 2010-13? Everything since then has been a mistake.
Seriously they are just dominant this year. They have focused on harder compounds and its paying dividends. Just looking so professional at the front.
Mercedes have had the best car since the hybrid era begun in 2014, is anyone surprised by them dominating still
Who was the person on here a few years ago who said whatever domination we think Red Bull had would pale into comparison with what was coming with Mercedes?
'I was too friendly at Turn One' Lewis Hamilton says: "It was an under-par performance for myself. It's not that I don't enjoy the race here, I just struggle - I got quicker at the end but it was too late then. "I didn't get the job done in qualifying and in the race I was too friendly at Turn One and basically gave it to him, but he drove a great race and deserved the win." Sorry Lewis . I don't agree .
I have a dilemma . I really like / rate Valtteri , but last year I chose him in the votes ion here to win & he was poor . What do I do this year ?
Hopefully Bottas keeps he's form up otherwise we're in for another boring season. Hybrid era has been 100% times worse then the Schumacher years when he domaited either though he didn't even have the fastest car for most of that era or when Vettel domaited to.
I think they both wanted to avoid contact. As the season progresses, if Bottas becomes his genuine title rival I think you’ll see more aggressive Hamilton but I don’t think anyone can take a thing away from Bottas this season - and as you know he isn’t my favourite by any means. He’s been like Rosberg this season- meticulous and maximising opportunities. If you don’t come first, come home second. Not the 4ths and 5ths or DNFs that hurt a title challenger.
Yes . Over the season Hamilton will walk it , I'm just pleased Valtteri is up for it ( so far ) . I said last year Ocon would be in his seat before the end of the season . So far , thankfully I am wrong . If ( as I still suspect ) he is not in the Merc seat next year , hopefully he will get a decent seat for next year .
