Hopefully Williams will put in a claim against the circuit, same as I think Hass did after a similar incident, Can't remember where. That wont help with the lost track time though, plus the production time for another chassis. Williams need a little luck not more disasters.
I don't think they will unless Vettel is clearly being held up. From a Ferrari point of view, he's cost them points, so now needs to get results on his own before they'll consider it again imo.
Fingers crossed that is the situation. I do not believe it is impossible for Le Clerc to challenge for the WDC even, if allowed and Ferrari keep making improvements. Hamilton vs Le Clerc, even Lewis would relish that.
I think he will be but by then there will be Le Clerc too. I want to see him near the top but not quite winning, not yet anyway. He has the role of bad boy to play out yet. It is fascinating how his crashes suddenly eased up after Monaco last year, I think someone here said his father had been banned from the races for a while.
It would be Ferrari ironic for Leclerc to lose out on the title to Hamilton by how much the team have cost him to Vettel in these first few races
Funny old session today! People sliding off all over the place on a green and slippery track. A lot of track evolution to come but it has caused a bit of havoc with race sim time and strategies. Hopefully it’s a topsy turvy sort of race! Ferrari look to have the right set up so far- whether Merc can adjust to get in the fight we will have to see.
If Merc win this I will be worried for the season competitiveness ahead. We need a competition. F1 needs a competition. I wonder if Liberty would make an ask of Ferrari to let Le Clerc race? Liberty need a competition. Would Bernie have made such a request? I reckon so.
The only problem with Baku is that as a street race it reminds me that we still have to go to Monaco and watch that farce.
I don't see Redbull as faster than Merc unless the PU change has delivered something extraordinary. Roll on quali when we can see the real pace.
I don't generally enjoy the Monaco race but I have been to see the track. The height difference between mirabeau and the tunnel is staggering. Our coach parked in underground car park sort of facing the tunnel. Then we walked up to the hairpin and up to the casino square. It was quite a climb. We where there on a day trip from a cruise and they were dismantling the track so some of the barriers were still there and I think the Pits were still there. It was great to walk the actual tarmac. You really don't get a prospective of the elevation changes on TV.
I totally get how some don't like it , but I always have ( not so much anymore but that's just me ) . sTILL WOULD LIKE TO EXPERIENE IT ONCE , INDEED , IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME , 1982 WOULD DO FOR ME Sorry for shouting .
Interesting interview on Sky with Mercs James Alison about aero and the first Merc vs season start car.
