Pashanski might be ranked considerably higher at 172 but the Serb was second best throughout their match, losing his cool several times as line calls went against him.
Temps were cooler for Andy last night and after a mini-struggle in the second set took the match in straight sets. So into the last 16 and the only Brit still involved.
Heard it was a tough match. Hopefully that'll keep him in good stead for tougher challenges ahead. Shame that Laura's out though.
I saw Andy play and TBH it wasn't his best performance. However, even the likes of Novak and Roger have a match where they played average/poorly by their standards but still win, then their form picks up. Hopefully that match yesterday was Andy's "poxy" match out of the way and he improves, because he needs to. If he plays like that against Roger or Novak he'll be gobbled alive for breakfast. However I see an improvement for Andy and think he has the game and mentality now to win this and more slams (not the French though, that's Rafa's domain when he comes back). At this year's AO, I would put Novak as favourite, and Roger second fav, Andy third. Andy will challenge and possibly win Wimbledon or US again. I would, however, not write off Nadal when he comes back - if his knees hold up, he can be a serious threat - he can win majors outside Paris and has proved this before. Thoughts?
Another thing I'd like to add - Heather and Laura both did well and pity they couldn't get past round three. I can see these two girls improving quickly too. Pity the guys behind Andy are not quite up to par yet. Hopefully this will change sooner rather than later.
Aye, but she scrubs up well Murray now has that attribute that's vitally important if you want to win titles: he wins even when he's not at his best. I really don't know what to expect from Rafa when he comes back. He's been out for a long time. Novak has just lost the first set 6-1 to Wawrinka which I didn't see coming. I suspect he'll fight back and win though.
Stroll in the park for Murray against a clearly exhausted Simon. Through to the last 8 and he's not lost a single set or hardly broken sweat. Contrast that with Djokovic who had to come through a gruelling and titanic struggle against Wawrinka yesterday. That's **** all for Djokovic though. The guy is a machine, a really bendy and superfit machine. Murray's been pretty average so far for me. Hopefully he's taking it easy until the latter stages.
Got to hand it to the guy. It was the same last year. Everyone thought Nadal would win the final easily after Nole's five hour semi-final battle with Murray but he went through another massive five setter in the final and came through to win. Some stamina on the lad. Makes you wonder about the likes of Simon who looked completely exhausted against Murray.
