Footballers egos are becoming as bad as boxers. You hear it all the time, “he wants to be the highest paid player at the club”. Like, what the actual f*ck is that? Why does it matter so much? How about donate £10k to the homeless every time you miss a bloody penalty?
There is also a reason most lottery winners go bankrupt. Just spend on better things without thinking further ahead And indeed lots of football players go bankrupt as well
Who decides what that cut off point is? And why? It’s exactly the same but the numbers are bigger. Just because we can’t appreciate what we would spend the extra 20k a week on it doesn’t mean they ‘need it’ any less than your average earner goes from 60k to 80k PA
I don't feel sad, I have low expectations of people so am rarely disappointed. 5 decades of seeing people behave differently to how I would has just taught me that I can't expect people to react like me all the time, and not to feel annoyed if they don't. Live and let live I say, it's not my business now people lead their lives
I am 52 at the end of the month and my income is triple what it was as a 27 year old when I first moved in with Mrs No7. I have nicer stuff, but i don't have triple the available income left over at the end of the month. In fact I probably have less as I have more outgoings and like the finer stuff as I can 'afford' to push the boat out a bit more. The more you earn, the more you spend. However, it is diminishing returns. if I now trebled my salary I wouldn't need it or spend it all. I think this is the point people are trying to make. The more you earn, the more you spend, but there comes a time when you will have a lot more left over.
I didnt - my original post: That and also when you are earning a fortune, you spend a fortune, so yes, you do always want and technically need more as you have higher outgoings. That said, he will likely have a huge wedge in his piggy bank, and has a secure future, but I cant begrudge anyone wanting more money. I then made to £10k to £40k comparison after you made the comment about comparing it to normal people, but not when you first said I did. Even then, I still stand by what I am sayin, and respect you for sticking to your guns. I’m lucky to earn pretty good, and I see as ive gone through the pay grades that your lifestyle goes with you, same as if you transition through £10k to £40k. And who are we to question why if an extremely wealthy person should not have higher outgoings - they have the money so why not be able to spend it. Have you ever moved house as you wanted a bugger one, in a better area? Or brought a nicer car cos it looks better than the one you already drive? Not sure what you are saying about American Physco, dont get the comment. Are you relating ego with wealth, and the wealthier you are the bigger ego one has? I’m just not convinced that is the reality.
Of course, totally agree, which is why I made the point about Ings having a large piggy bank, but he shouldn’t not be able to buy nice things just because he can, which is what I took Greggs point to be.
Lots of super rich people do give loads to charity, literally loads. Although I doubt you would have many takers for pens if they had to give up £10k each time
There is also the argument that footballers are in an exceptionally privileged/lucky position where they can earn an absolute fortune in the space of about 10 years. This money can set up their whole family for generations in theory so maybe they aren’t only thinking about themselves but lots of people close to them as well. I know that if I were in their position I’d always be looking to take the biggest payday so that I could do just that and that my great great grandkids should not have any financial woes thanks to what I achieved in a relatively short period of time I am also a bit of a **** though so potentially would blow all the money when I retired
Yeah the penalties suggestion was kinda tongue in cheek. Just upsets me when you see genuine good guys like @thereisonlyoneno7 who can’t even afford to buy a proper Saints shirt.
Well, he needs to increase his ego and aim higher with his sums of cash - and Saints needs the money, so maybe No 7 is in fact the reason we rate so skint.
Yeah I just hope any prospective new buyers aren’t put off when they see that we have ‘fans’ who wear cheap knock-off shirts to St. Mary’s.
