He was only here for three seasons, I don't really see why a lengthy statement on his transfer is needed. It's only because he's a Southampton lad that people think we're due some kind of message from him.
Lengthy statement, short statement, a goodbye, a thanks for the support... literally any sort of acknowledgment would be nice.
I fail to see why anybody really cares whether Ingsy's agent puts out some bullshit statement to say how much he loved it but had to move on yada yada yada...he was with us for 3 years, I've eaten food that was older than that.
That's because you're a cruel heartless beast who sleeps upside-down in a wardrobe during the day , and eats babies at night
yeah in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter. Just such a fuss was made about him loving coming home etc. that it does feel very strange now. I have slowly learned not to have a favourite player supporting saints as they are all the same
I suppose every club (other than 1 or 2) is the same. We all tend to favour the best players that deliver us great moments... but unfortunately so do all the clubs that have more money than us! All we can do is enjoy them whilst they are here and just hope we get a good fee to reinvest. Oh, and moan about them and call them tossers when they do leave
Seems strange that even the players didn't know until after the Levante game. Romeu looked genuinely surprised at how quickly he'd scarpered!
I wonder whether the team was trying to keep it under wraps while they attempted to sort out a replacement, because it's not as if they'd have been taken by surprise about the fact that they'd agreed to terms with Villa.
Yeah, the players were definitely taken by surprise, but Ralph and the execs certainly would have known. I'm torn between being mildly impressed by their ability to avoid leaks, and mildly perturbed that they opted not to tell the players.
Speaks more of Danny than of Ralph I’d say. He obviously didn’t want to say goodbye to any of his teammates.
The interview I saw he said he didn’t even tell his wife and kids. Just made me thing that despite the fact you would have a very privileged life, it must be a bit rubbish to be the child of a footballer (especially a journey man player)
Would you want to tell the family they're being uprooted from the beautiful South to some hellhole up the grim Norf?
