Can he make a difference for the remaining games? bruce used his absence as an excuse this week too...
i guess it depends which ASM turns up, if its the cant be arsed one from before he was sidelined then no, if not then it gives us that little bit of creativity but need the rest of the team to turn up too.
Yes so long as he receives support. If we go nine defence and Max as link to lone man Wilson then no but if we put out a proper counter attacking team Max will be the difference that could save us.
Sadly with Bruce in charge it is hope rather than expectation that the manager can pick the right team. How Bruce has ever made a living as a manager I will never know. I can understand the friends in the media etc but think about how many owners have selected him as the best candidate to appoint as manager of their team. If Bruce was the best choice for those owners God help us as to how bad the rest must have been.
I had a dream last night that I was out in temp charge of us after SB got knocked over. I played 4-4-1-1 with miggy lw jonjo Hayden cm Fraser rw (suspension didn’t matter) and asm just behind Wilson. We beat Arsenal 3-0 and the objective was for the ball to literally be spread wide ASAP and crosses whipped from middle of their half (rather than the by-line). ****ing vivid as hell.
Unless you're playing one of the top teams, or there are injuries, you surely have to go for a front four involving Wilson, Joelinton, ASM and Miggy. Use one of the latter three to be the link from midfield to attack, and then have your two hardest workers/fittest in the middle: Hayden and one of the Longstaffs. With 4 at the back, you'd need some mobility at LB/RB. Then you can play good counter attack or front foot football. If we lose the ball and the LB/RB are too far forward then Hayden drops into a three man defence. Just seems that it would suit the players we have, and over the last two seasons we've looked better when we've tried this.
I'm not gonna start lovin ASM until he gets on the bloody pitch again and plays differently to the horseshit he was servin up before he got crocked.
Wonder if it's straight back to starting, or bring ASM on for the last 20-30 mins against tiring players, that might have already got one booking so might be less tempted to go diving into him. I hope this enforced break away from playing, has brought about some composure and return to his better form.
So that we can then take full advantage of the opposition being down to ten men with 15 minutes left? We’d struggle to beat 10 men over 90 minutes never mind over the last 15 minutes.
