Never lost a test at the WACA when we've scored over 300 in the 1st innings apparently 1st time for everything I guess......
We need to put 400-425 minimum on the board. What we need is these two to start solid tomorrow morning and then let the likes of Ali, Woakes, Overton and Broad pile on some late runs having a flay. As a bowling side thee is nothing more infuriating than bowlers swinging hard and riding their luck adding a quick 60-100 runs. We'll have to bowl well first innings and the more scoreboard pressure we have behind us the better. Personally I think it looks a cracker of a pitch and maybe a draw all day. However Overton may extract some nasty steepling bounce from this a la Tremlett. There was a nice grass covering too so we just have to hope its covering up a dry pitch of a million sins beneath. Very winnable situation now at the end of day 1. One good day is not enough however as we have found out. If we rock up tomorrow and have another good day, we will win for sure. I'd be getting right into my players tonight rather than patting everyone on the back saying well done.
I agree . Surely though , these people are ( Mostly ) Role models and should set a good example . I personally think MC saying to JA to get ready for a broken arm was a step to far . He apologised himself as well .
England were looking good at 368-4 with Malan and Bairstow rescuing the England innings with a great 237 run partnership. Cue the customary batting collapse and England lose their last 6 wickets for 35 runs. So 403 on the board for England but it should have been 500+.
Though it really pisses me off to say this, Steve Smith is really making a difference in this series - he's got them out of the crap in at least two innings now. Big 1st session tomorrow (again)
I predict the Aussies will score 470, they'll skittle us out for 170 in the second innings, leaving them a total of about 100 to regain the Ashes. Its gonna happen.
Alastair Cook out for 14 in the 2nd innings. That's 83 runs scored in 6 innings in the series. Not good.
60-3 with only a hope of a draw if we bat out the remaining day and a half. This is a pretty useless England team right now. Australia's tail-enders hit higher scores than our top order batsmen.
Just got in from doing my rain dance. What time does the game start tomorrow morning? Looks like I’ll be
Variable weather and incompetent groundsmen at the WACA are conspiring to provide England with their best spell of cricket this series, with no cricket having been played today. Dodgy rain covers have left a damp patch on the wicket and the ground staff have been out with leaf blowers trying to dry it out in between rain showers.
