Sounds like conditions might not be ultra-fast bowling-wise compared to the last time at the GABBA. Hopefully we don't lose any early wickets. Vince on an average of 19.27 doesn't look too great at no. 3.

    Weather conditions off the BBC

It's starting to look very cloudy. There is more white/grey than blue overhead. The clouds don't look menacing, but rain arrives quicker than a hiccup in these parts. Coolish, muggy. Almost English...

Not as clear cut a decision as usual in Brisbane. Still think Root has made the right decision.

True, what do I know. Sounded like English conditions to me. Chance to swing with Anderson and get a few early wickets.

Going along okay at lunch (59-1) but pitch sounds slow and Australia not bowling well.

I can't actually see England winning the series unless they can get Stokes in the squad soon. I hope they do win though - too many Australians come out of the woodwork here when they are winning.

Mooen Ali and Malan take the score to 190-4.
196-4, rain stopped play, that's it for Day One.

If we can double our score tomorrow (a big ask) that will give us plenty to bowl at.

Big first session tomorrow - get through that ok and I think we'll get to 350/380 which should give the bowlers something to play with

Me too. When I posted that I thought it was on Sky. Started panicking when I turned over to the sports channels just before the start and couldn’t find it.

How many ET channels are you supposed to buy these days.
