Not really bothered now. We’ve lost the Ashes. One day series doesn’t mean much to me except some interesting games maybe and England still not seeing a session through to the end a la Root and Bairstow. Plus what was Barstow going out to bat for?
Unfortunately I don’t seem able to stop caring. Made worse by the occasional flickers of hope, followed of course by crushing disappointment. ...wait, is this thread about the England cricket team or NUFC?
Barstow and Bayliss I expect to wake up tomorrow morning with us having been skittled out for 271 and the Aussies on 100-1, piling more pressure on.
When you look at our tail you have to worry about being able to add many more runs. Not to mention Moeen Ali being in pretty poor form. And they have just taken the new ball.
To be fair its Bairstows decision. As a player now moving into a senior position in the team its a really poor one. Crane could have seen that out. We've now paid the price for that decision too. Although I would say Root has to carry the can really. As captain he just hasn't led from the front. His lack of a big score and inability to convert is poor. The only thing Bayliss has got wrong is the prep. The players don't want a long build up but there should be no choice. They have to start taking time to adapt. To be honest though all of the home nations need to take a long hard look at themselves. The pre tour opposition and pitches they are serving up to ensure the oppo arrives undercooked is appalling. There is a reason why home records around the world are ridiculous at the moment. Fans need to see competitive cricket. The only way you get that is by giving the oppo the chance to adapt and providing them with the proper preparation.
It was kind of baffling hearing the commentators say that it has been MOOTED in the England camp that in future Ashes tours they MIGHT try practicing with a Kookaburra ball in the months leading up to it! ****ing staggered they aren't doing this already.
Australia up to 400 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Looking like another innings defeat at this rate on a pitch that is going to deteriorate over the next two days and favour the bowling team more and more.
I think it looks Aussie win all over. Ball just showing signs of low bounce. England will pay for their lack of first innings runs. Aussies will get 250ush lead and then bowl them out for 160-180 would be my prediction
We had a squeak when Crane had Mitchell Marsh all at sea for a few overs. Really annoyed me that he and Root didn’t cease the moment a la Warne, surround the bat, and start with the chirp. He needs to learn the theatre and psychology of leg spin bowling. That **** about the kookaburra is just laughable.
we need to try and get to 600 by lunch, declare, leaves the poms 250 behind with 5 sessions to bowl them out
